Understanding balance? Mechanically a motorcycle is easy to get out of "straight" alignment and few riders would realize they are compensating. Tires wear unevenly, one shock blows, fork seals leak all the while a rider states it's difficult to lean her to one side over the other and they compensate. From triple rod checking the triple tree and forks to making measurement scratches in my rods for my tool like yours, I've found techniques over the years. I envy you having your Dad to help with his great knowledge and skill. I wouldn't call it "redneck" or "hillbilly", your techniques have sound principles that correct many problems HD "technicians" haven't a clue about. Thank You to your Dad for us, he is a great man, and Thank You Angel for passing it on. Prayers! darley havidson here in the US has gotten itself in trouble with this woke ideology and forgetting where we who once were loyal come from. I will always support you just as I'll never get rid of my 65 Pan, but Harley will never see me in it's dealerships again. I live a Spiritual life of sobriety and I cannot put myself around folks that deny God's existence or that of my higher power. Don't get into the politics Angel and enjoy your job, you have my prayers Sweety. Thank You to all my Brother and Sister Veterans, yes that includes Canadian. Respect and Honor to all of you on Memorial Day. Welcome Home to our Vietnam War Heroes. You are in my prayers Hoka Hey

Hey Red nice job, you can most likely find that in your manual under chassis alignment what you are trying to accomplish is front rotor to rear rotor alignment which is done with an inclonometer or otherwise known as a protractor with a magnetic base I'm sure it's close but perfect is what you should shoot for buy a magnetic protractor and check it with the front and rear rotor angle that will truly align your drive train. God Bless.

Interesting you brought up the heimjoint adjuster towards the end there. All last season my 1996 fxds had an awful shimmy coming out of corners and had a weird clunk i just could not track down for the life of me....turns out the rubber around the socketside of the heimjoint on the top stabilizer link was all worn out causing a ton of play in one of the heimjoints. I just ordered some 3/8 qa1 tierod ends and one of the adjusting screws with the the LH threads to make my own and a new rear motor mount. Hopefully that will fix some slop in my drivetrain. Have you ever seen those factory stabilizer links wear out like that before? I was convinced my swing arm or neck bearings had play but theyre all good
@RedRiderCanadaBC Жыл бұрын
This is my first experience with one of these set ups. But I would assume that it’s kind of normal for the rubber to eventually get dry and worn out.

Inner primary aligns the motor to the trans dont it the hems joint squares it up on the rubber mounts! How could the motor square up ,swing arm to the frame 😳 makes no since, that tool you made would work with axle wheel alignment, not going by the wheel adjusters! I'm lost
@RedRiderCanadaBC Жыл бұрын
Hey jimmy, I explain it in the video briefly, the engine and tranny are aligned with the primary but the swing arm does not mount to the frame. The swing arm mounts to the tranny (which is attached to the engine) and the camber alignment is then done with the top engine stabilizer.
