The comment on the Fast and Furious being part of the cars history is too true. I mean honestly, without that movie they'd be worth 5 grand in great condition. My issue with cars like the Supra and any other "famous" car like the Delorian or the '69 charger is that you can't own or drive one without immediately being labeled as "the guy that drives the car from the movie." You can't enjoy it for being a Supra anymore, instead everyone wants to draw attention to you because of the movie your car was in. I've never even seen a Fast and Furious movie but the second I'm in a Supra everyone calls me "Paul Walker." I just think that stuff is just way too overdone. I want to be able to own a car like that not because of the media it was in but because of the quality of the car. Frankly the Supra isn't as good as a lot of people remember it being and as a result I have no interest in buying one, especially not at those prices.

It's just a nice looking car with good specs. Proportions even with the wing are perfect for a biggish coupe, has a friendly simple face, simple taillights - it seems good looking in an uncomplicated way. Same applies to a lot of 90s cars, Japanese and German. A lot of cars to me these days look not quite right - there is always too much 'design'
@annadelsiena6 жыл бұрын
Agreed, the simple styling is wonderful. This machine really cemented for me what a "sports car" looks like. Most of the 90s cars have it. Sadly we're losing more and more of these kinds of cars in favor of SUVs and minivans. Nissan just really hit it home with their R35 GT-R, hope the Mk. V Supra can do the same, but with what I've seen so far it's just overdesigned
@Prototheria6 жыл бұрын
If you enjoy the styling, have a look at the '07- '15 Jaguar XK. And if you like how the Supra turbo drives, but always felt it was lacking (because let's face it- it's an early 90's car), then do yourself a favor and go test drive a '10- '15 Jaguar XKR. It is everything the Supra would have grown up into had they not killed it.

Price of Supra is at fault of both Fast and Furious and Need For Speed and Gran Turismo all at once. Few of the kids got rich or were inbred into money and stole all supras on the market destryed 50% of them in the process and boosted demand beyond any reasonable levels to a point where all cars having 2jz got raped to source the engine killing their numbers too. In wake of this retardation and destruction almost no stock Supras exist anymore, almost all 2jz Soarers and IS300s are gone and Supra is ravaged and unobtainable for normal car guys costing 4-5 times as much as competing cars other than Skyline R34 which shared it's fate in exact same way. Its much better to just go for Celica GT Four, it costs as much as supra should, is superior in every way and has real 4 wheel drive and even more resilient and tuneable engine.

The cool thing about the C4 though is it’s a real sports car and can be bought for $4000. The interiors are terrible but the drivetrain is like a big boy version of old British roadster drivetrains, infinitely usable and buildable and the suspension is genuinely well engineered and capable. If they were valued as the capable machines they are they would be going for double the price across the board.

This is why I would like to own an R33 GTR. The R34 is suffering from the same fate as the 4th gen Supra being insanely overpriced for what it is, the R32 is everybody's other choice because the R33 is "ugly" and "too big". It's the forgotten middle-child and is therefore relatively inexpensive for much better performance than the R32. Plus, I think it's pretty good looking myself but I can see why some people wouldn't like it with those taillights. I didn't like them at first, but they grow on you.
