1995-2001 Ford Explorer NHTSA Moderate Overlap Crash Test (60 Km/h - Female Occupants)

A series of Injury Risk Assessment tests performed to analyze the risk of injuries between 50th Percentile Male and 5th Percentile Female occupants.
Performed on 11/16/2000, this test assesses the THOR-LX legs in a 40% Moderate Overlap frontal crash test. Both Driver and Passenger are 5th Percentile Female Hybrid III dummies with THOR-LX legs. The speed was 59.86 Km/h (37.2 Mph).
Crash performance also applies to 1997-2001 Mercury Mountaineer.

Exactly, even tho this Explorer is from 2000. The other one was from the 1995. Ford never fixed that issue.

Compared to a modern car you're way way way more likley to be injured or killed in a collision. Best to just not crash haha.

This crash test dummy (5th percentile Female) in this test has a seated height of 31 inches, with a 60 inch height overall (5'). The 50th percentile male crash test dummy (5' 9") has s seated height of 34.8 inches. it's possible the top of your neck/base of your skull will contact the top of the headrest. nrd-static.nhtsa.dot.gov/reports/vehdb/v00000/v03500/v03503R001.pdf Here's a link to a side crash test using a 50th Percentile Male dummy in a standard seating position. You can see how low the top of the headrest is.
