Darius was always one of my favorite series. Thanks for uploading this. You even managed to dodge the deadliest enemy of all: the red weapon power-up.

@@AQT187 Since there's a limit to how many of your shots can be on screen, the orb bullets have a higher firing rate when point-blanking than the wave does since they don't pierce enemies or go all the way across the screen, so oddly enough if you collect too many red medals and become fully powered up your DPS plummets

@@AQT187 Also IIRC, if you're max power and collect another red medal, it resets to rank 1 of the wave. Probably to let you switch between wave/orb and full power wave, but maybe they should've just had it switch between those two instead of screwing you over.
This game is brilliant with its set pieces. Im quite fond of zone T, with its decimated metropolis and hazy sun. The sun gradually setting as the boss fight progresses is a nice touch. I also love the eerie glow of wreckage in zone v. Goes very well with the music too.

Supposedly Darius Gaiden takes place in the same universe as Metal Black, who's first stage is also a decimated metropolis with a hazy sun lol. Both games were made by not just Taito but same team at Taito.

It's funny that Zone T was supposed to be the "Stage1"(You can still play it as originally intended with Extra 1P mode) I guess that explains why it has so much attention to detail compared to other Tier 6 stages.
Z' and onward is all a Boss Rush mode! Damn make it look Easy! Well played my pro dude!

Meh burst was a pretty good successor, but yeah this is the Darius that Taito spilled their heart and soul in. The ps1 Darius was a pile of dried vomit

KungFuBlob, I don't think so, Zuntata did the soundtracks for pretty much all older Darius games (Hideyoshi Ogura did one track for Darius Burst PSP, he is a former Zuntata member). Zuntata is pretty much legendary when it comes to game music.

That’s because the big orange wave shot with 2 white blue bullets (big blue wave shot with 2 white yellow bullets from extra version) are the only way to reduce the difficulty & increase the chances of Defeat bosses quickly. However, here’s a tip of how to Defeat the bosses with following, check the original version of darius gaiden. & remember, memorize the all bosses shot patterns in order to avoid getting shoted by bosses & find the safer place or use black hole bomb if you having trouble of dodging enemy or bosses attack like Neon Light Illusion & spamming laser, Crusty Hammer.

Is it only me, or does the tracks sound a little bit different here from the soundtrack i. e. Darius Gaiden for Sega Saturn? The bass accompaniment sounds a bit more synthesized in "Vissionerz" from 1:14 and forward, extra sound effect in the percussion has been added in same theme from 3:43 to 4:33, the "echo effect" in the string section at 3:52, 3:59, 4:06 and 4:13 have been removed, in the last part of "Axon" at 16:23 digital "triangle" tones have been added. Also, the scream the bosses make when they die have been removed from last stages bosses. Did I mention that i liked the tracks from this game as kid?

Ramón Uribe Soto The arcade version generates the music on the fly via a FM/PCM sound chip. The tracks of the console ports are done on higher quality synth hardware and are just CDDA/PCM streams. The arcade version can sound slightly different, depending on what emulator and/or internal sound driver is used.

+Ramón Uribe Soto The arcade ost is probably the best usage of the F3's sound chip( E5505+E5510 combo) of all games on that system. It defenitely sounds better than gerdinkan, and rayforce which both had better versions of their soundtracks on the saturn ports.
