In all honesty, I owned a 1996 & never had any real problems with it. I replaced the head gasket at 150,000 kilometers (93,000 miles) and other normal wear and tear dealings you'd find with any car. The paint held up with no pealing or rusting and with proper maintenance the car was great. The only REAL issue I had with the car was the windows scuffing up after multiple roll ups on the driver side, as well as the weather stripping needing replacement. Gave the car to my niece who still drives it
@BrokebackBob9 жыл бұрын
The Plymouth/Dodge Neon benefited from all that Chrysler's designer's learned from designing the LH cars. I own a 1995 Black/Grey Plymouth Neon Sport Coupe with a 5-speed designed at the Kokomo Chrysler Transmission plant and it has all the goodies but not the somewhat troublesome 32-value version of that engine. So this type of engine "delete" option gets you stainless exhaust, a power bulge hood with greater air flow, bigger 4-wheel disk brakes, the 5-speed with an excellent clutch, bigger radiator, 14 inch alloys, and an engine that I have only feed plus gas and Mobil 1 to since birth. It sounds like a fine watch and people in Priuses look agog and I pass them while getting 27 miles/gal on the road and 22 in town. If you can find any Neon in pampered condition that is unmolested, buy buy buy. You won't regret it and you can work on it yourself!! It is a pocket rocket with style!

1) Spray your toilet with the all-purpose cleaner from top to bottom covering everything from the tank, flusher, hinges, both sides of the lid and seat, rim, exterior bowl and base. Just douse it with product, don’t be shy. Let it sit for a minute to start to break down the dirt. 2) Add the toilet bowl cleaner into the bowl. You’ll notice that toilet bowl cleaners have an angled spout - this is designed specifically to make the application of the product under the rim easier for you. Gently glide the nozzle around the inner rim of the bowl and squirt out the product in a steady, even flow. 3) Begin wiping the toilet bowl clean, literally re-tracing your steps from step 1.Start wiping the tank cover, flusher, tank, change paper towel. Get into the hinges (more on this later), wipe the lid top, flip it up and wipe the lid bottom, change paper towel. Wipe the seat top, flip it up and wipe the seat bottom, change paper towel. Wipe the top of the rim and then get the exterior bowl, sides and base. Get into those little crevices! You can always clean the floor and area behind the toilet with a mop as opposed to doing it by hand, either way, it needs to be done. 4) Take your cleaning toothbrush and spray it with a little bit of all-purpose cleaner. Use it to get into those hinges and brush out any build up (if you haven’t cleaned your hinges in a while, you’ll understand the value of this tip). 5) With your toilet bowl brush in hand, start to scrub under the rim (don’t do it too vigorously or else you’ll get backsplash) and work your way entirely around it (lots of build up lives here). Then, spiral the brush around the inside of the bowl, starting at the top and swirling it around until it gets to the waterline. Continue swirling until you get to the chute and pump the brush in and out of the chute a few times to clean it as well. 6) DONE!! Hold the brush in the toilet and flush. Let the water clean the brush off so you don’t have to. To allow the brush to drip-dry, hold it on the rim and put the seat down. Let the brush sit for a few minutes and then replace it dry into the brush container (if it is wet and it goes back in, you get nasty build up)

I like the custom hole in the P for the shift indicator on this car. It looks like the fuel gauge is broken or the the sender needs to be replaced. While it's true that some of the older cars have some minor problems with the fuel gauge/sender what your really saying as the salesmen is "the car needs gas and or there is a problem with the fuel system but you guys don't want to fix yet." P.s. the car looks like from your video like it's on a flat so your most likely on empty/reserve.

+Trades46 what were the problems of that neon you used to have? I would love to have one of those gems from 93-99.

Josh Carpenter I don't know the specifics (like I said I was a grade schooler then), but all I know was the Yellow Check Engine light went on every other week.

+Trades46 that's happened to my old car. It sounds like the car was maintained though.

I think these are sharp looking little cars. I almost got one, but the check engine light was on and I didn't want to deal with possible problems behind it. I ended up getting a Cavalier which is just kinda "meh" to me.

I agree, you just don't see older neons like that in such nice condition.

The Neon is branded as a Chrysler in markets outside North America. It's only called a Dodge or Plymouth in the US and Canada.

Is it a 3 speed auto? The rpm's seem high towards the end of the video.

Who thought the Dodge Neon would come in dayglow florescent colors when you first heard of it?

I remember my Grandma had this car for years before it broke down, Her’s was a Green neon.

Yeah figures, these cars were not the best in quality. Especially the 1st gen 1995-'97 models with the head gasket problems AC issues, and poor paint finish quality. Cool and cute looking cars IMO. Because of the color choices they came with (blue, light blue, purple, red, lime green, and yellow), especially the 1st gen ones they always reminded me of easter eggs, especially now because they're becoming more rare and harder to find.

Wow nice slab lol, and if the dealers would let you, can you do some more driving clips?I really like those, and so does everybody else. And o ya my dads 2000 sierra does the same thing with the gas guage. U gotta shake the whole truck for it to be normal again
