Thanks, I tried to get the install too but my camera stand would not cooperate, as usual. 😆

I’ve got a 7.3 Psd that shifts hard into R and D and hard on 1-2 like your example. What is the likelihood that it is the same issue?

Great video. Did you go to Ford for the part? And mine isn’t shifting hard, it takes forever to shift into 2nd and sometimes just skips 2nd because I got enough speed for 3rd. Do you think my problem could still be one of the springs?

Thanks 👍 I ordered the update piston and cap from ctpowertrain in California, they have an eBay store, as far as the lower spring assembly I went with the updated purple spring (4r70/Aode) it's stronger. This one would also skip second occasionally and go straight to third. It shifts great now it feels like a new truck.

Thanks for this video. Was your O/D light blinking before (or after) you switched the spring? I have a 1996 F150 5.8 that I'm troubleshooting today because of the very hard shift to second. O/D light is blinking. Transmission was switched out last month to a Ford Rebuilt one, but no clue about its history. I have no idea what I'm really doing, but I changed the ABS sensor hoping that might fix something. If anything it seems to be running worse than with the original sensor. Any thoughts/advice would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks!

No it wasn't flashing, the Od light flashing on this gen f150 is a sign the trans is in fail-safe mode. I would check the shift position sensor and the wiring to the transmission for any breaks that's may have happened during install. If the unit is rebuilt they would've swapped the accumulator assembly most likely.

Yours is a 1996 which means a scan tool should be able to pull the trans codes, that's where I'd start just to get a baseline reference of where to start. On most vehicles 95-96 companies where switching to OBD2 in that process they usually added sensors or change sensor designs on those two years specifically.

@@runsbetterthanitdidgarage.626 Thanks so much for the quick replies. Guess I'll have to get some codes and see where we go.

@@ajturner7396 It also wouldn't hurt to check the Throttle position sensor on the Throttle Body. If it's adjusted incorrectly or fails it can cause some shift issues. I've replaced a couple due to shifting issues in the past. The ecu uses the throttle position to determine some of the shifting and down shifting on certain 90s f150s.

@@runsbetterthanitdidgarage.626 Thanks so much. I'll report back if/when I've got something figured out!

Forgive my ignorance but is this the E4OD or the 4R70W ?
@runsbetterthanitdidgarage.62611 ай бұрын
This one is Aode/4r70. The e4Od is usually in hd trucks from my understanding.

Do you have to replace all the trans fluid that leaks out?
@runsbetterthanitdidgarage.6265 ай бұрын
Yeah, the transmission must be refilled. 👍

does anyone know what the 1-2 shift accumulator part number is i'd really like to know
@runsbetterthanitdidgarage.626 Жыл бұрын
The piston and cap part number are separate from the spring. k76755e

I have similar hard/delayed shifting on F150. When I disconnect the battery for 20 minutes - shifts great for 50 miles. New TPS, VSS, ECM Capacitors. No Change. Thoughts on the problem?
@runsbetterthanitdidgarage.626 Жыл бұрын
It probably wouldn't hurt to drop the pan and check, this one would randomly hard shift then it eventually started to shift hard all the time or skip second.

Did u try the shift kit electronic thing?

Where did you get the parts? For the love of God! No one has them!
@runsbetterthanitdidgarage.626 Жыл бұрын
If you don't have a local transmission vendor, eBay will have individual transmission parts most of the time, all you need is the year and model of the transmission. 👍
