I would say a large majority of homeowners are unaware they need to be cleaned as with many things in their house.

@@TM_Stone I was not aware my electric panel upstairs was basically condemned by the industry, if just one electrician had told me, maybe I could have avoided an attic fire as it didn’t trip. I’m blanking on the name at the moment..my contractor’s electrician installed a square D panel, then I found out there was a recall, mine’s number falls just outside those that were recalled. Outside panel and breakers are also square D, I hope it’s decent stuff..new 200 amp service for my new ductless mini split and just for the obvious “bringing the house into the current century,”..get it?…”current” century..yuck yuck….! Oh..Federal, I think..1950’s goodness, complete with cloth wrapped Paraflex wiring..

To be fair some of these customers have no business even just hosing off their equipment, never underestimate the DIY home owner's ability to absolutely butcher something so simple.

@@MegaDysart yeah! Oven cleaner, some Drano, and a super high pressure washer should do the trick!

It's beyond me why people also mow their yard and aim the deflector TOWARD the heat pump and besides the grass all that dust goes right in the coils!

I have a 2008 Goodman 5 ton package unit that went under water during Hurricane Harvey. Completely under for days. I cleaned it up and changed contacts and capacitor. Still kicking today.

Many years ago I had a customer in Houston that owned two Janitrol systems. This co, was located in Ohio. Those units were built like tanks. Great quality throughout. We kept them going for a long time!

I don't think the old Goodman's were weak at all, tons of them still out there. The recip compressors never fail.
@jthonn2 жыл бұрын
The last time I had Goodman installed, my neighbor got a new Trane, the compressors were exactly the same. What you say I think is kind of true, but the dang evaporators go to leaking!

over 30 years we have had a rocky relationship with a ductwork cleaning company. Plugging coils, burning out motors, plugging secondary heat exchangers, ac drains ect. Fast forward a little an a new company is in town, through communication in 1 year we've got a good relationship with them and by extension our customers, and we each know the scope of work so neither is doing to little or too much, leaving gray areas for customers where it's nobody's responsiblity (Lol) BUt for 3 decades i thought we couldn't coexist.. Just my two cents

I'm a maintenance tech and have been on the same 84 unit property since 2012. We still have about 30 percent of these exact units. They just hold up. Mine were manufactured in 94 until late 95.
