1995 KLR 650 Restoration Walkthrough

Great looking bike. Progressive makes a nice rear shock at a reasonable price.....as far as shocks go anyway.

Nice job and the carbon fiber really looks sharp. Cogent Dynamics makes great suspension for the KLR but it's a little pricey if you ask me

I have the same Mad Dog seat cover. It does fit nice. Too bad it was not the original Barbie color and stock setup that would have been nice LOL

It never ceases to amaze me how all the different riders customize their KLR's in so many ways. Not my style but, solid build. Really like the DRZ fender. Nice.

It actually looked really good compared to my archaic helmet fender. I'm trying to stick to the all OEM look. Otherwise I would definitely be interested in that rear fender.

That’s a sweet ride. I like the fairing-less look. I was worried the performance would suffer on my (fairing-clad) ‘23 KLR Adventure, but so far, so good. Have you ridden one of the new ones? I’d be interested in hearing how you find the performance and feel compared to yours. PS: great craftsmanship on the build!

Thanks for the kind words. It was a fun build and I loved how it turned out. Nice to bring the old farm bike back to life. I haven’t ridden a new one and just moved on to an Africa Twin. It’s been a dream but you can’t beat the value of a KLR! Cheers and happy riding.

Hey there. Glad you like the look! The DRZ rear end was super easy. It took a bit of trimming to make it fit the way I wanted, but I think it was worth it. You’ll need a rear tail tidy/mount for the brake light and the plate. Just FYI. I picked mine up off Wish or Amazon. Enjoy and safe riding!

How did you get the turn signals to work? I tried to add Sequential turn signals to mine and i failed to get it to work correctly. Had to go back to the factory set up.

Hey there. I custom made the side plates that the lights mounted to. I took the idea from the same looking mount that’s available for the Grom.

This is by far, the cleanest, most aesthetic KLR I've ever seen. Is your headlight mounted to the forks? And any leads on the same decals? Great job.
