If you clamp the hoses a bit farther can you save the coolant, because I do need to replace the o rings but not the coolant wich is new!

TheHelado36 late to the comment. I think it might be possible but you may not be able to get behind the heat shielding.

About to tackle this job on a '93. Read the first line of your description after skimming through the video (for motivation). Thank you for your honesty. I'll update with details hopefully to help other when I'm done.

Got the job done. Instead of pulling the hoses off the cooler side, I loosened them farther north and accessed the assembly at a 90º angle. To loosen tight hoses, grip with pliers(other) and turn/rock back and forth until it breaks free. Initially breaking the lip seal with your finger or flathead screwdriver is a good idea. Nonetheless, I'm still leaking oil from somewhere else. A master mechanic recommended this gasket replacement. GREAT

Thanks for this video. This is my exact problem and no one else has this kind of video. Love you for it.

First off thanks for the video. Second, for people doing this job you don't need to remove the coolant hoses, therefore no need to drain coolant. Just turn the whole unit around, after removing the 30mm bolt and holding bolt, and replace the two rubber grommets with the coolant hoses on. It beats trying to get those hoses off and cuts the time in half. Unless you like getting frustrated and cursing a lot... Cheers

Well the info about the 30mm socket was helpful, I got a set of harbor freight 1/2 in impacts for $19 bucks on sale (2018), sockets are recessed quite deeply and nut is not very thick, but got enough bite to get out the cooler stem. Don't know why the oil and coolant needed to be drained since oil level is 8 to 10 inches bellow oil filter and had enough clearance to lift cooler 4 to 6 inches and pull the lower seal. Worked fine without drawing fluids.

O'reilly Auto Parts sells shallower 12pt 30mm sockets, but likely 1/2 drive. I recommend getting a 3/8 to 1/2 adapter.

Good video, but I don't think you need to drain the engine oil. I just changed mine when I noticed that the coolant gasket was leaking.
