Letting Watters go and Floyd getting injured, left the 49er backfield in absolute shambles in 1995. That was the beginning of the end. Those two were perfect in the 49er system and made their offense unstoppable. So we can talk about this game and the Packers in the Divisional Round. They have those two are there in the backfield in 1995 and the 49ers go back to back and then who knows.

It was also the beginning of the end of life like "Camelot" in the city too. It was the beginning of the tech industry employees filling every vacancy like locusts and turning the quiet off of the radar neighborhoods into hamlets of frat and sororities. Got Starbucks?

This is the game that award the Colts the chance to draft Marvin Harrison because of the Jeff George deal stipulated that the Falcons give a first round draft pick to the Colts if they make the postseason in the 1995 season..the definition of bitter sweet
@timbliss98928 ай бұрын
That Jeff George trade ended up being crushing for the Falcons. The Colts got Marvin Harrison because of it. But it goes deeper than that. The Falcons traded their 1994 1st round pick to the Colts in that deal as well. That pick was pick #7. Pick #7 eventually was traded by the Colts to the Rams when the Colts moved from 7 to 5 to draft Trev Alberts. The Rams then flipped the pick to the 49ers who used it on Bryant Young. Colts and 49ers ended up with 2 HOF players while the Falcons ended up with the very forgettable Jeff George era.
@timbliss98925 ай бұрын
@nikosuavesworldofsportsmusic I didn't realize I was slandering the man by expressing the Falcons could have had 2 HOF players had they not made the trade.
@timbliss98925 ай бұрын
@nikosuavesworldofsportsmusic Do you remember 1996? Do you remember the embarrassment he and June Jones caused the franchise? The Falcons despite making the playoffs in 1995 got promptly blown out and had a losing record with Jeff George at QB. Yeah, I would say that makes his era pretty forgettable when the Falcons forfeited having a chance to land 2 HOF players because of that trade. You make the kind of trade the Falcons did for George you expect to land a franchise QB for a long time and George didn't even make it 2 1/2 seasons with the Falcons before everything fell apart. No, it wasn't all his fault, but he played a big role in it.

One of the worst regular season losses in 49ers history. Cost them homefield advantage. Had that happened, they likely would have played Dallas, and they were built specifically to beat that team

@redmustangredmustang Жыл бұрын
All the 49ers had to do was win this game and they get homefield advantage throughout the playoffs. Instead, the Cowboys who were flying to Arizona to play the Cardinals on Christmas heard the 49ers lost. So the Cowboys had to beat the Cardinals Monday night in Arizona which they did. The Cowboys go on to beat Philly in the divisional round, then the Packers in the NFC championship, and finally beat the Steelers in the Super Bowl.
@wta1981 Жыл бұрын
Yep. One of the biggest results in a reg season game in Niners history. They had beaten Dallas 3 in a row at this point and Dallas owned GB during these years. Win this game and Niners would have likely played Philly and then Dallas. Could have been the difference in winning another Super Bowl. However no guarantees…this was the beginning of the end for the Niners dynasty

@wta1981 I honestly do not know. It’s not just game breaks that can cause a game to be blocked. It can be a single play, music, intro graphics and even kickoffs that can also get a game blocked. I just recently had to edit out all kickoffs for an upcoming game. And there was nothing spectacular about any of those kickoffs, just touchbacks and ordinary returns.
