interesting a thermostat caused it to bog down but the newer motors do have a overheat sensor on them but thought all they did was set of an alarm. Shutting the motor down is actually better for the motor. I see what you mean by get up and go with that one on a 14ft boat. Cool for a 15hp

Just got a 1977 15 horse Johnson for $200 bucks , it needed a lot of TLC , rebuilt the carb , new pinion gear and starter rope , impeller kit, two new coils,and power pack , and fuel lines , after watching the video I might replace the thermostat and fuel pump just to bring her up to par , ran a compression test 110 on both cylinders, she’ll be getting fresh paint and decals after making sure it’s mechanically done , to all you fish out there be scared I’m coming for ya ! 🤣👍🏼
