Edward condemns Jason for not following the house code of behavior that he “has known since he was a baby.” Someone really needs to remind Edward that Jason doesn’t remember his precious code of conduct or very little of anything else. Ned tries, but he just brushes Ned’s concern aside as him just feeling guilty and wanting to coddle Jason because of that guilt.

No, he’s just reflecting back the utter disappointment most of the family are showing that he’s him and not Their Jason. With very few exceptions they constantly remind him he’s a very poor second. He knows they wish he was someone else and they’re not even trying to find out who he is now. I think he was trying to just be there, but the consent reminders of what he should like, or be, is wearing him down and because of the brain injury he has no cap on his temper. It definitely is not his fault!

Edward couldn’t just lay out terms for Jason, and let him choose; he had to put in an ultimatum. If Jason did not do what he said, then he could find another place to live. That was Jason’s clue that it was time to leave before the ultimatum became do as we say or be locked up. I can see Edward proposing it ‘’to keep him safe and prevent him from disgracing the family.’’ He just had to show he was in control. But it backfired as most of his ultimatums did.

Because they couldn't get over the fact that he wasn't who he used to be. Ned, Lila (and I think Emily) were the ones who tried to give him space and let him learn who he wanted to be. The rest of them treated him like a messed up child or lamented who he used to be. At this point, he was like a child. He couldn't understand a lot of emotions so he lashed out. That's why to this day he still makes a big deal about how a person needs to make their own choices and how they need to be who they feel they need to be. Had the Q's (and Wards) acted more like Ned and Lila then perhaps things would have been different.

Well Edward gave Jason Morgan a way out. Because Jason Morgan didn't want their money at all. Because Jason Morgan just wanted to leave on his own terms and that was the best thing that happened in this whole situation and that's exactly why.

It was completely unfair for them to have expectations on Jason after such a traumatic life changing event. It’s like they all decided the brain damage was irrelevant and they’ll just train him into being their old Jason again.

Well, AJ pretty much did knock the hell out of him, physically. The rest of them knocked hell out of him mentally and emotionally, expecting him to just take up where he left off before the accident. They claimed to understand about his brain injury and how it affected him, but that is not how they treated him. They sent the cops after him to drag him home instead of giving him the benefit of the doubt and then acting like he should have been grateful for it. How humiliating it must have been to be brought home like a wayward child instead of a grown man. Telling him he was forbidden to take the car in the future écluse he was’t ready to drive. But he just proved he could, apparently one of those things he retained because it was in a different part of the brain. If they had been smart, they would have told him that he could tested on driving, and if he checked out he could take the car. But they had to be in control. Treating him like a child instead of a young man struggling with an injury that left him more emotionally impaired than mentally. If he had broken a leg in that accident would they have expected him to get up and walk with no problems? Of course not. They would have given him all the time he needed. Well his brain was broken. It didn’t turn him into a child but it did leave him with limitation. But they treated him like a child while at the same time expecting him to act just as he did before the accident. And when he did not act as they expected, they let him know how disappointed they were that he was no longer their golden child. No wonder he was hurt and confused.

They completely forgot what Tony told them about Jason and what he's going through. They needed to realize he was different and not the Jason they knew. That he didn't remember them and they needed to give him space to find out who he was now. Maybe if they just accepted who he was after the accident he wouldn't have got as far away as possible from them.

I hated this scene. Jason was just acting like a spoiled brat. Did he really think he could treat them the way he did, destroy his bedroom, storm out, and they would just let him sponge off of them?! Hey buddy, if you don't wanna be a Quartermaine, fine. But then you don't get the money. And as for letting him sleep in a room with a broken window, if he had been my son, he'd be sleeping in a room with a broken window and a broken jaw, the little brat. I would have knocked the hell out of him.
@beegee1960

None of them really understand Jason’s condition. Jason has brain damage, he has had a personality shift, he is struggling to understand a world that he has no connection to. Ned is the only one who has any sense. And by cutting off the money that was supposed to be his, they just confirmed that they don’t get it They just drove him further away. And you know, at least part of the money in his bank account; he probably earned himself. How did Edward have the right to deprive him of what was his? But the money was not the issue. Jason didn’t care about it. And the Quartermaines didn’t care about the money, they were just using that to control him and make him dependent on them. And as far as the money goes, he walked out on the money. He did not care about money.
@beegee1960
@beegee1960 5 жыл бұрын
Do you seriously think Jason was concerned about money? They didn’t believe that he could take care of himself, but he proved he could. He never took one dime from them. He went out on his own, brain damage and all and made it on his own. Even before he hooked up with Sonny, he was supporting himself.. I believe that even without Sonny he would have been successful at something.

Well, they pretty much did knock hell out of him physically, mentally, and emotionally. That is why he left. He is acting like a brat. But think about it. They had done everything they could to force him to come home and be their Jason. They had the cops drag him back. They cut off his funds. He realized that they were all about control. The authorities and money was their methods of control. He felt he had to leave. He believed they would lock him away if he didn’t. And they very well might have. I can certainly see Edward suggesting it and Alan and Monica going along with him because they don’t know what else to do.
@7srchoed
@7srchoed 10 ай бұрын
That’s ironic, because if you called him a spoiled brat he wouldn’t know what it means. They all decided they knew how to fix him, when he doesn’t think that he’s broken. It was an impossible situation. Of course they were going to screw up, and Jason didn’t have the emotional connection with his family that would make want to be patient with them.

if that injury had been a broken back instead of a.damaged brain, I suppose you would have punched him when he did not get up and walk like he did before. After all, he has always known how to walk, known it since he was a child. Well his behavior was the result of a broken brain. He could no more control it than he could have gotten up and walked with a broken back. Both injuries would take time to heal. He would need time to relearn all those behaviors that he once didn’t even have to think about. The difference between a broken back and a broken brain is that a brain injury is hidden. It is easy to mistake his behavior as him just being a jerk.

NeishaLuvsGH Come on, this is not a normal young man complaining with no reason. He is young man with no memory of himself or anyone around him. He doesn’t have a connection with a single person on the planet. He is bombarded with descriptions of himself before the accident. His family describes him as a paragon, a golden child. But he does not feel like that person and they have all made it clear, unintentionally of course, that he is no longer that perfect son. He has no clue how to become who they want him to be. When he tries to break free, they have him brought back like a puppy that ran away. They tell him he can’t take a car, although he just drove a sports car across town. The family make it clear they don’t think he can take care of himself. They cut off his bank account and his credit card. They treat him like a child. But he is a man, brain damaged, but still a man and not stupid. He does not care about living in a beautiful mansion. That has no meaning to him. He is feeling trapped. In later years, he says that if he had not left, they would have institutionalized him. Of course it felt like a prison. All prisons are not stone walls and iron bars. A prison keeps one restrained.

He was trying to do that, but it was going to take time. It took him 22 years to be where he was before the accident. Most of that training and experience was gone in an instant. You think he could just snap his fingers and it was all just going to reappear? But like you, they were not willing to wait. They wanted Jason to be himself again. right now!
