1996 K1500 Cheyenne Front Brake Pads, Rotors, and Calipers Replacement

1996 K1500 Cheyenne Brake Torque Specs
Wheel lug nuts: Torque to 120 ft. lbs
Caliper mounting bolts: Torque to 38 ft. lbs.
Brake hose fitting to caliper bolts: Torque to 33 ft. lbs.
Caliper to knuckle clearance: Measure caliper to knuckle sliding surface before final installation: If required, remove caliper and file the ends of bracket to obtain .010 to .024 inch total clearance. (Measure the clearances individually and add them together)
Caliper mounting bolts: Inspect bolt & sleeve assemblies for corrosion. Replace if any is found- Do not attempt to polish away corrosion
Caliper mounting bolt lubrication: Lubricate bushings, bolt seals and caliper bolt cavity with silicone lube GM P/N 18010909 or equivalent
Important: Before moving vehicle, pump brake pedal several times to make sure it is firm. Do not
Move vehicle until a firm pedal is obtained. Inspect fluid level in master cylinder after pumping brakes.

Great video! Very thorough and clear instructions. If your calipers aren't locked up, is there any other reason to replace them? Debating if there is any reason to replace my calipers with my next brake pad change.

The caliper piston seal (Square Cut Seal) is showing signs of wear, which would cause the inner brake pad wears out faster than the outer pad, or the piston seal is leaking. Thank you,
