Damn great job. It’s funny how something so small take a long time to get to. Thanks for the video

I have the same year Town Car. Had to have a the blend motor replaced. Watched the guy do it. He did have to remove the dash but did not have to remove the air bag or the plastic posts and other stuff. I think the book says 6 hours but it took less. On another occasion when mice stored soybeans in the HBAC box I had them put in a new blend motor while they had the dash out. Lucky comprehensive insurance paid for that job as it was rodent damage.

This is an excellent video and has given me so much more insight into what needs to be done and all the work that goes into changing out this part. Thank you.

Felipe, Thanks so much for all your efforts on the repair video. Well done. (Service personnel are never/rarely offered opportunity to give input on the Design phase of product development. Service is always 'dead last' in the process, merely 'throwing the product over the wall to Manufacturing, and hoping for the best in terms of serviceability.... A product management issue that is truly shameful. At both Ford and Chrysler, this was an issue for me as well, because, unlike so many of the clerks, I work on cars, etc. So I know how much you put into this video/repair.)

I have the same car, same year, same color, same issue. I don't know if I want to dig into it. Good job.

I just dug into mine, sucked, would not recommend, just take out the air bag and the vent behind it and just switch it from hot to cold, hot is to the right, cold is the left, it sounds like someone dropping a large rubber billiard ball

@@Hunt4Yoshi lol, youre right, this guy did it the HARD way. there was absolutely no need to rip out the whole dash, i just did this on my grand marquis, its a bitch, but it wasnt THAT hard, the secret is, you dont have to take out all the bolts holding the actuator, break off the tabs, it only needs 2 bolts to hold in place
@Prosstasauce3 жыл бұрын
That moment when you have to put it back all together, been there before brother

good god this guy did it the hard way.. all you have to take out is the air bag, the air vent on the far passenger side, and the air duct behind the air bag, and you have access to the actuator,, you do NOT have to remove or even loosen the entire dash

I had a mechanic put a switch on my car years ago to bypass all that but now it only blows cold on the passenger side but the driver side is warm. He said when I needed heat to just flip the switch, well I have no idea how to get in touch with him and now I need cold, but get heat and cold. Any ideas?

that mechanic was lazy. do it the right way the first time and you wont have any issues

he did a LOT of unnecessary work.. there was NO NEED to drop the entire dash.. take out the air bag, the vent and the plastic air duct, boom you have access to your actuator

Felipe.. I also had to R&R the EATC OE blend door actuator motor on my old 97 Lincoln Towncar that lasted 19 years till I replaced it on 11/18/2016 with an aftermarket one that came with a lifetime warranty, but as you said, it only lasted barely a little over 4 years of service, and now, after 4 years and 8 months, I am doing the replacement on my 2d actuator as it was clicking and eventually lock the crank arm level into MAXIMUM HEAT thus diverting all cool air that first is forced through the evaporator core to cool it and thus remove humidity, to the go inside the plenum chamber, and has to pass along the blend door actuator door that diverts, Non, PART or TOTAL of the air flow toward: vents, floor, windshield defroster, through into the heater core, thus the supposed blended air, was not blended at all and all air, was EXTREMELY & TOTALLY HOT out of the vents when temp was set at 65F. Back in 2016 I was able to Remove the back 2 screws that are difficult to remove using an 8mm wrench with one open end in one extreme and a flexible 8mm female " drive"- mini micro ratcheted wrench. For the installation of the 2 back bolts, I used a fine, thin, telephone solid copper wire, with a loop laced around the neck of each 8mm bolt to secure them from dropping out and at the same time holding and lowering the wire laced 8mm bolts while at the same time guided into the slots and drive them with a flexible 8mm socket and/or the 8mm wrench. The mini-micro ratchet allowed me to screw the bolts using the 8mm ratchet by turning tooth by tooth as there was no ample space to move the handle. It took me 15 hours to do the entire job as you more or less describe in your good video. Thank you for sharing.
