Cool Car!!! I keep going back and forth between a 96 Buick Park Ave ultra and a town car. In Colorado can you register it as a classic car if it’s 25+ years old. I have a 97’ Lexus Land Cruiser registered as a classic in Texas. It would be so funny to have a video of you chauffeuring the TFL guys ( Roman, Andre, Nathan and Tommy) to Casa Bonita in the Town car. I would greatly appreciate a Casa Bonita TFL review 🤙

@SunnynPhilly I have had both and the Park Ave feels faster but the Town Car is a more comfortable ride. It just depends on what you want most. Both are a good choice.

Your trunk lock will not open with the ignition key, which is what you were trying to do. You should have gotten 2 keys with this Town car, but it seems you didn't. Until you get a new key made for your trunk lock you will need to use the inside release button. I'm not sure how you couldn't feel that the tumblers were wrong for the key you were using and the size of the ignition key was too big for the lock. Anyway, enjoy that Towncar, my BF and I are restifying a 96 Continental Diamond Anniversary edition. It has the same motor and a very similar interior. The 1996 Lincoln Continentals (all the years that body style) seem to be a fairly rare car now. Google them, they are so wicked looking. I know the one my BF has, in our experience, is the only one we've ever seen. That's his car, I drive a 99 Lincoln Navigator 4x4. Lincolns rock.

@@brendanaoI had a 1992 Buck Park Avenue Ultra and that thing was fast. That supercharger worked great. The interior on that lovely ride was so, so comfortable. I think I could have lived in that beast if I had to..I no longer have it and I do miss it. My one and only Buick and it made me a Buick fan.

I am German and I admit I have a bias towards German vehicles and since coming to the US I have driven them exclusively. My wife's aunt passed away and left her a very similar vehicle. We flew from Milwaukee Wisconsin to Flagstaff Arizona to pick it up and drive it home. Although it was almost fifteen years old it didn't even have 30K miles. It was in near-showroom condition and prior to driving it back we had a complete inspection done at the local Lincoln/Mercury dealership and the only things it needed were a new battery and tires. I was prepared to criticize the driving experience but in reality it was it was an outstanding Highway Cruiser. It was incredibly comfortable and quiet smooth riding and climate control shrugged off the 110 degree temperatures. It would cruise that 80 mph in almost complete silence and got 24 miles per gallon. I thought we'd sell it when we got home but we still have it all these years later and we use it as a summer Cruiser

The thing with the American style full size sedans of yesteryear is they are exceptionally well suited to American roads and highways. Softly sprung with soft shocks, tires with a lot of sidewall, and big squishy seats makes for the experience perfect for the open road. Edit: Heck, they're well suited to the average american driver too. No idea what a performance car is supposed to do, so slap a V8 in it, give it really long gearing so it cruises at 75 down the highway at 25MPG, and give it enough space for a hockey team. Should be good, right? That's luxury and performance!
@MercOne
@MercOne Жыл бұрын
All those reasons are why the American luxury car brands were run out of the business. Lifeless steering, terrible braking, dangerous handling, flat back breaking seats for long drives. When luxury car buyers figured out that you can have road worthiness and a good ride with better seats, better quality, buyers left these old clunkers in droves. Look at a 1990 LS400 vs this thing. Other than room the Lincoln has nothing on the Lexus.

My neighbor bought one. Of these new in 1995 and I bought it from him in 2004 when he bought another new one. He maintained it by the book with Mobile 1 5w 30 with new filter at every oil change. Most of his driving was highway so it had 150,000 miles on it. The only problem he had was with the EATC Control Head which was replaced. Not long after I took it over, I replaced the air springs with new ones and about two years after that, the Valve Seals needed to be replaced. Aside from normal wear items like oil, tires, shocks and transmission service with new filters as per Owner's Manual, that's been all it has needed. It now has 195,000 and still has the original exhaust system, starter and up until last week, the original alternator. The leather interior is still in excellent condition. AND, I never have to add oil between oil changes. The clear coat over the paint started flaking off a couple of years ago and considering the car's overall condition, what's available to replace it with and that we are now in our mid seventies, we have decided to get it repainted. I found an extremely well cared for '95 Cartier Series the same color as the one in the video with 136,000 and picked it up for my wife about 10 years ago and it has given the same trouble free service as the first one. Given our age, I think that we probably will never have to replace these Lincolns nor do we really want to. If a car like these suit your needs, or you want to get into the Collector Car Hobby, find a well taken care of 90's Town Car and enjoy!

My dad once rented a 1981 Town Car, it was brand new! We went on holidays to BC that year! It was my first time riding in one, I'll never forget it! It was a navy blue exterior with a navy blue velour interior! BEAUTIFUL CAR! I was hooked on the full size luxury V8 cars after that wonderful experience, both the Ford and GMs are tops in my book! If I had to choose between a Town Car and a Cadillac Fleetwood, I'd have a hard time deciding! Hopefully someday I'll have enough money so that I could afford both!😊

Rear-wheel drive, full body on frame, rear air suspension, leather everywhere etc - it makes Town Cars best American used car on the market. It's very common philosophy in the past which unfortunately is already forgotten here. Now I dream about some personal luxury coupe, but Lincoln Mark VIII and Buick Riviera had their own issues. And they are too old of course. So, looks like this dream has no chance to become reality. But at least we have these ideal Town Cars. Thank you for the video!

My white 90 had the presidential roof on it with a smaller limo rear window. It was a gorgeous car, but those thick padded roofs tend to get porus as they age causing body rust. To change the roof is hella expensive. The 90 got car of the year but there was a lot to be desired comparing it's 5.0 to the 4.6. The 4.6 is much faster and has dual exhaust. The 90 didn't. The 90 had a borrowed antilock system for the brakes from Mercedes and was a nightmare when it failed to repair. On the other hand when looking at the town cars from 90 to 97 you will see that the early ones had all kinds of exterior trim pieces that little by little were deleted every two years by 97 the cars were so stripped and plain they looked like fleet cars. Just compare the front bumpers and grill from the 90 to the 97. Ford is famous for this. They figure the public isn't that sharp. If you can find a promo 91 that still has all the exterior goodies you have the best of both worlds with the 4.6 engine.

I LOVE my 2005 Town Car Signature L, the first year Lincoln used "Signature" on all their Town Cars. Before 2005, "Signature" was for the higher trim cars. This model is equivalent to the former top-of-the-line Cartier and is also in the hard-to-find factory 6" stretch "L" version that came out in the 2000s. I bought it from a Lincoln dealer in San Antonio in 2007. Only 17K miles, in new condition, always in Texas, and sold for half of its new sticker price in 2005. Even the body color sounds luxurious…French Silk. It has what is no longer available on almost all newer cars...a full frame, a solid and naturally-aspirated V8, a cassette player (being an audiophile, my cassettes sound like CDs), a CD player and changer, and NO DISTRACTING screen on the dash. It has the increased horsepower 239 HP 4.6L V8 that came out in the 2000s, yet easily gets 27 MPG on the highway and 21 MPG in town. No troublesome multivalve, turbocharged, or supercharged setup. I appreciate an interior and ride that isolates you with a smooth ride and library silence. The seats are more "Europeanized" than the cushy ones in the second-generation Town Car, meaning they are firmer and not as plush. Lincoln added a rear Watts suspension starting in ’98 that was borrowed from the Jaguar division they owned at the time and went to rack and pinion steering in 2003 along with a refined front suspension and a further stiffened frame. Easy to work on and parts are both durable and inexpensive compared to today’s vehicles. I am keeping this. Always garaged and currently only 157K miles. I want nothing to do with most newer cars. Why pay much more for much less? If I wanted the ride of a “performance car”, I would buy roller skates or ride my racing bicycle. Sometimes it is just nice to get away from the noise and stress, be comfortable, and decompress.

I drove a 1996 Signature Series that was like new inside and out. Loved that car especially the 1995-1997 had the best dash, headlights, and minor trim. Your missing a giant rounded off metal key that would work for your trunk. The symbol you asked about on the trunk must be part of that dealer package, mine had the Lincoln symbol. I knew every inch of that car and until I was hit I never planned on getting rid of it. Very nice, plus it a Lincoln Town Car.

Yeah, and at one point, part of their slogan was, "Travel Well." Indeed! There IS no other luxury sedan within these model years that is any better. As far as the luxurious seating areas, these Lincolns were actually SECOND in the comfort arena; my 1990 Buick Electra/Park Avenue, along with my old 1987 Chrysler New Yorker, had much more comfortable seats, with their soft, fluffy, La-Z-Boy seating style. I MISS THESE CARS!!

I had an '03 (as a 23 yr old) and all of my friends thought I was ridiculous until they sat in the thing and realized how comfortable and reliable it was long term. I've since sold it and gone through two other vehicles (2012 Lincoln MKS & 2021 Mazda CX-9 - which were both great) but I'm actually in the process of looking for a low mile town car. I miss my huge V8 and being the fastest town car to ever exist!

I get nostalgic. Had one '94 in the Dominican Republic in a similar condition to yours. The most wonderful and smoothest driving experience ever, even if it wasn't the best car because of its age, but it was also a real tank in traffic which got very much respect. I literally owe my life to the 2nd Town Car ('06). Head-on collision at about 40 mph on impact. I only had a small scratch on my hand while even the gearbox broke apart.

I have always preferred this body style of the town car to the 03-11 model, the boxy look makes it seem important and much taller than it really is. They are both great vehicles though.

You got yourself a diamond in the rough. 👍 I drove Lincoln Town cars for years. First as a limos(the last one was 102” stretch) then after just town car for airport runs. I now for my personal car have a 2005 Mercury Grand Marquis with only 167,000 miles on her. Thanks for sharing your video.

I would argue the fleetwood brougham was the pinnacle as it was a Cadillac, (more prestigious name) bigger, and more powerful. Although the Lincoln probably rode softer due to being not quite as concerned with handling as Cadillac is, even back then.

💯 Even when these were newer, they were either livery cabs or limos, Fleetwood's were definitely the Pinnacle.

That is the Cartier symbol on the trunk. I had a car just like this years ago. The color is called light parchment metallic. Its a tri coat pearlescent paint. A pain to touch up. It takes multiple coats to cover up the chip. I have a last year Town Car now. A white signature limited. Has 78,500 miles right now. Love Town Cars.

Nice buy on the LTC! I have owned one myself and they are great riding, quite and comfortable cars for sure. You can't beat the value for money on these things. They beg to be a part of any smaller budget collection. I think you should tidy up that one. But be on the lookout for a little nicer one. If you're going to have an LTC in your fleet, you got to have the moonroof! Definitely a must, it makes it just right 👍 I would also look for a better color. You will spend a bit more. But so worth the money. Then when you find the better LTC, you can sell this one.

A top of the Line town car in Orthopedic Beige. Awesome. What a great car. I own a half dozen of these. 1996 was a changeover year from seperate trunk key to all one use key. Your car is missing the separate trunk key. You can program a couple of remotes as well. Keep an eye on your intake. Don’t run it low on coolant or oil and it’ll run forever. Enjoy!
