If Nebraska didn't lost to Arizona State and Texas in 1st Big XII Championship in 1996. I think that Nebraska would have Big XII titles and a 3rd National Championship also would have a chance to make it's a 4th National Championship and 2nd Big XII titles also a new head coach in Frank Solich in 1998 after Tom Osborne retire from coaching having 4 National Championship at Nebraska.

Even with the Arizona State loss, the Huskers still had an outside shot of winning the national championship that season if they had not lost the Big 12 championship game against Texas. Also, a botched field goal in the 1994 Orange Bowl against Florida State cost them the 1993 national title so Nebraska could have easily won 5 consecutive national championships if not for some bad breaks.

@Chris Bath LOL. Always a one-sided Neb view. Hey, I'll spot you the Neb missed FG, IF you spot me the missed FSU FG in the 1st qtr. Deal? And where does that leave us? And regarding the loss to TX. My god, Machovic tried to give Osborne the game and Osborne could not get er done. No bad break at all. 4th and 1 from the TX 29 yd line and Machovic, not only goes for it, he passes with a QB that had already thrown at least 1 interception. If Osborne stops the play, the NC is still definitely in sight.
