@@Fixyourdirtbike damn bro I didnt think you still even monitored these videos! I have used your site and videos to completely rebuild my 97 CR250. Invaluable information and breakdowns. Just picked up a 2004 YZ250F that needs a rebuild and its like I am back at square 1 again
@travisstickells736129 күн бұрын
@@Fixyourdirtbike My 97 CR250 starts fine and idles but after actually riding for about 5 minutes, it dies. It SOUNDS like the piston is seizing and the kickstart actually locks up, but if I rock the bike back and forth a little it will get unstuck and after waiting a while I can start it again. Any suggestions on what to even look for? Could the piston actually be seizing and then cooling and unseizing very quickly? Crank issue maybe? Just put new crank bearings too.
@Fixyourdirtbike29 күн бұрын
Glad I could help!
@Fixyourdirtbike29 күн бұрын
That's... wierd. The rocking thing is interesting. Did you gap your rings during installation? The piston is unlikely to expand and contract that fast and that much unless it's a bad casting. Did you set the crank seal depth?
@rockhavenfarm7615 жыл бұрын
good vid! if you remove the basket bearing and collar whilst still inplace the cover doesn't have to be removed though.
@caleb99olsen548 жыл бұрын
Only thing i have to note is that you should have your friction plates soaking in your engine oil for a few hours previous of instal.
@Fixyourdirtbike8 жыл бұрын
Caleb99 olsen I like the idea, but the friction plates aren't porous so I don't know how much benefit there is with soaking them. What benefits have you seen?
@davidbarrett40797 жыл бұрын
Not the steel plates, but the fibrous clutch disks. They'll absorb some trans fluid and ensure that there's enough lubrication for the first start. We do this with automatic transmission clutch-packs during rebuild, which are nearly identical to dirtbike/motorcycle clutches. Your method is fine I'm sure, but soaking the disks doesn't hurt. Just a little added insurance.

Not sure if this has been mentioned in here but, inside the lifter, there is a ball bearing. It's not in the manual and here in this video it has not been mentioned. Does the ball bearing only applicable for 97? Thanks

Never make a home made center hub holder tool like shown and screw it into the spring holder threads they will snap the pillers clean off.buy the corect tool or make a holder from some old steel clutch plates with a handle welded to them.

HELP Okay step 46 I pulled the clutch lever and the clutch is now bound somehow i think in the clutch lifter what should I replace to fix just the clutch lifter or clutch Rod as well or could it be something else? I was replacing the clutch plates and the clutch push rod came out and when I put it back in and I pulled the clutch it feels like it's bound its not moving the clutch rod at all.... HELP
@Fixyourdirtbike5 жыл бұрын
The lift lever may have been turned past the groove and the push rod is now sitting on the side of the lever. Remove the clutch bolts and push the clutch lever away from the handlebar then see if the pushrod sits right. Let me know how it goes!

Connect the new cable and see if you have resistance in the lever. That lifter lever has some play from the factory but what you're describing seems excessive.

Hello! Thank you for the video, it is very useful! I have a problem. After Step 43 (Torque the center nut (59 ft.lb) and remove the holder tool) I can't rotate the outer basket and the clutch inner, they are moving together. Before I torque the center nut they move independent form each other. What is the problem? Thanks in advance! Regards: Laszlo

The only thing I can thing of that would bind the inner and outer would be if you are missing the thrust washer, or if your needle bearings are damaged and catching.
