It’s the u140e and the a541e for this generation. The a541e is the one you want. The u140e has reverse issues such as seizing.

bought a 97’ es300 about a year ago for 1000$. 240k miles. decent condition. valve cover gaskets leak 1 quart in between oil changed, otherwise oil stays very clean in between changes! i love this car and put 20k miles in a year with only replacing the alternator and battery and oil changes. amazing car!!!!

I had to junk mine, did an engine rebuild but radiator blowing up was the last straw.

Non interference and yes 2000-1 had the worse trans. Maybe you can replace it with a 90s es300 trans.

Not sure I mean those transmissions are reliable. It’s just a hit or miss.
