Great. I’ve been hesitant in pulling the trigger on this product. This gets rid of my hesitancy. Thanks much.

It’s way better to travel and look thru suburbans tahoes and trucks to find a good one and replace it. I did. It was easier than you’d think. If you can, get the wiring harness off of the firewall too. It goes under the carpet and up the a pillar on the drivers side if you have the electrochromic mirror

Doesn’t matter what color you get either. Paint it with the interior paint and it’s gonna look great

Personally I haven't seen an undamaged GMT400 dash in a pull your own parts yard in several years now. And I make rounds to several across three states as part of my business. I was after a factory new look cosmetically, more a restoration than a repair so that can be a decision factor also.

I would have a hard time resisting the urge to pull the dash and do the work on a nice big table. Other than the extra time and effort involved, is there any reason not to do it this way? Finished product looks great.

I would have preferred to replace the dash with a reproduction part, but those are only available for the 1994 and earlier trucks. So this product makes for a nice second choice. It's a very large labor cost job to pull the dash from a GMT400 truck. So this product is designed to avoid doing that and is a good alternative until someone starts reproducing the full dash for the 1995 and up style. In addition some of the fitment is press fit into very tight tolerances so it would be very awkward to try and do outside of the vehicle with the required pressures while the silicone adhesive it setting up.

Another great job! My '99 dash is still in good shape but, good to know there's a fix. Silly question... Should I have that recall part on my GMC Suburban? I do have an airbag where yours has that cubby. Thanks for sharing and I can't wait to see what's next.
@DrShock3 ай бұрын
Thanks, only certain 1999 models with the airbag installed were subject to that recall. Only SUVs as best I recall. www.nhtsa.gov/?nhtsaId=00V122000

There's a video in my library if you decide to DIY. The dealers won't have the parts anymore.

Have you ever repaired how the dash bezel attaches to the dash? i have dash cracks over two of the clip points so the bezel does not snap in place. Does the Dashskin help with that? Suggestions?

I'm not aware of an aftermarket solution for that trim part. In the past I've been able to find them off of low mile salvage yard vehicles in good condition though.

Yeah I found a good used one.

You were very lucky to do so. Most any GMT400 that wasn't majority garage kept has succumbed to decades of UV radiation damage to the dash plastic by now.

What do u do if around the bezzel is cracked all up?
@DrShock21 күн бұрын
There isn't an aftermarket reproduction on this part available yet, for the 1995+ design. But hopefully soon. In the meantime, the only option is to hunt salvage yards for a better piece.
