do you have a good source for the radio faceplate? I am updating a 2000 model corvettte and the screen on the faceplate has a deep cut/gash amd small scratches all over it, so I need to replace either that paticular info window or the whole trim plate itself. I already have new butons ready to go in. however I am hesitant to put new buttons in a scratched up trim plate.

Best route for that sort of part is either eBay or your local pull your own parts salvage yard.

For the years of this video, it is handled by an user code that the vehicle owner inputs into the radio. You can call an 800 number to get the master code if you've lost or forgotten the user code. Check the description on this other vid - kzbin.info/www/bejne/hXvKZ5awrdt9aKs

Yep, unfortunately to replace them you will need a soldering iron and some skills with that. But it's the ancient wire thru hole type, not surface mount.
