In this short video i start up the 916 which is currently advertised for sale reluctantly so may pull the add.
I feel i tried to give it throttle as its a cold start but it didnt like it. I think this is because today the weather was reasonably warm for time of year and location so i guess no throttle would have been best practice.
personally i feel this is a lovely example of such a gorgeous and truly iconic motorcycle.
I have every original part to put this back to stock. The bike sounds better in this video than my previous cold start video of same bike this is because i selected a better microphone.

With this and the Velo on the fleet ever have a hard choice between them?

Sadly ive never had the 916 on the road. I bought it as a dream modern era sports bike although now the 916 is actually a classic, but my finances didnt agree. Up for sale without me even having it on the road however i may change my mind and get it sorted but its the dilemma of do i maintain the service history or do it myself. I think one bike not enough two is perfect but i usually have four or five and then you get into the realms of rediculous. If you have bikes what do you have ?

@@velofan. that’s a dilemma all right, with such a fine machine it’s a question of maintaining value but that has a heck of an impact on the owner. I’ve always been in the fortunate position of modest mileage run of the mill cheaper bikes. At present an SH125 for commuting shared with my partner who is restricted to L Plates at present and a 650 K9 Bandit attached to a sidecar. Though I’ve had 3 Diversions, two that went through 100k and are still going, a VF400F, GT750, GPZ500S, XJ550, and a utter mongrel Norton, wideline featherbed frame, 750 Combat Commano Engine, you get the idea.

@@piearm1271 sounds like a nice arsenal. I had a gsxr 600. Shares same engine as the small bandit. Excellent bike. Lasted me many years and I put 55k miles on it all my own miles as bike was new. All my mates kept disbelieving the milage as I did no engine work just regular service and upkeep as I usually do all my own mechanical stuff including engine re builds of smaller two stroke 125 bikes and my current restoration of a 1928 velocette kns. Not full engine rebuild but top end royal overhaul new piston barrel and cambox is complete overhaul. Gearbox etc. but the ducati owners are keen on services done by ducati dealer so like I say unless I keep the 916 forever and then it won’t matter same as my ancient velocettes but if I want to sell it as it is currently up for sale I have to take different approach.
