If you want to replicate you dad's truck, AMT made an extended cab fleetside 4X4 in their Snap Fast Plus series. I believe the kit in this video was originally a Lindberg kit. AMT also did a regular cab shortbox 2wd kit. Revell did a regular cab longbed, an extended cab stepside, and the Lightning (regular cab stepside).
@shannonmorrow2399 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I have the Lindberg of this same kit, it's a very good kit, the Revell super cab flareside and the Revell long box in my stash. I also own a 2001 super cab flareside F150.

My grandfather had a 97 F150 4X4 ext cab 4.6l. His was a rarer version because he had an 1 year only heavy duty option. It had an F250 radiator, F250 brake booster, and a side exit exhaust in front of the rear tire. It was designed to be a stop gap between the 92-96 F250 body style, which was still the old body style in 97 because the new body style F250 wasn’t ready until 98. I’ve never seen anther with the same option package.
@rickjames12324 Жыл бұрын
Friend of mine had one of those it was a 1998 F250, but it was 7 lug and this body style, I think it eventually turned into the F150 7700 package

Looks awesome....I do believe the solid line over the body panels on the instructions fo rthe windows , means that the part should be outside or it would be a dotted line over the panels. those colors scream 80's

Mine was just destroyed before Christmas by a delivery vehicle, demolished right in my own driveway... 4.6 V8 2-valve, 200K miles and more reliable than a horse... Watching the wrecker take it was a kick in the stomach. Two-tone blue and gold.
@mattfarahsmillionmilelexus Жыл бұрын
This was originally a Lindberg kit, folded into the AMT line. It's a very accurate kit.
@robertmungo5428 Жыл бұрын
This is basically known as the heritage edition! Though the two door regular cab had been all but fazed out by the late nineties you could still buy one. Most built were extended cab and four door!

I'm not a fan of Ford cars either (Found On Road Dead). But, I did get a good deal on a 95 ranger back in Y2K or so and I drove that truck every day for 18 years and it was still going strong when I sold it. I'll never brag about their cars. But, their trucks kick ass.

I don't build models. I suffer from anxiety which causes my hands to shake. But, I do enjoy watching others do it. So, I don't know a lot of the things that most of you do. If he wanted to make the bed look like it had a spray-on bed-liner, would you just use flat black paint? Or is there a way to add texture to it to make it look more realistic?
@hpiguy Жыл бұрын
You can just stipple thicker paints like craft paints to make it look like a bedliner. There are numerous ways to accomplish a textured finish.
@bradleyj.fortner2203 Жыл бұрын
@@hpiguy Oh cool. I was just asking the community, I wasn't expecting a reply from the man himself. Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. 😊
@JimFlanagan4206 Жыл бұрын
You can use really fine sand from the railroad layout section of the hobby store mixed into the paint if you want the grainy Line X style bed liner.
@shannonmorrow2399 Жыл бұрын
On my 1:1 f150 it has the (factory) plastic bed liner. That's what that piece the fenders hang from looks like.

Very nice build. I love the red and black color combo. Did you apply a clear coat to the body and box and if so what did you use this time? The gray interior looks great; exactly like the '97 Ford Expedition I had, but Ford didn't identify it as German Gray. lol😂 Thanks for sharing!

@eddiebrown9625 Жыл бұрын
It would have been nice if they also put like a mechanic figure in with the kit. And tools in a pack of spark plugs and a helicoil get it. Because you know those motors blew out so many spark plugs.. I done a hundred repairs on those spark plugs. Anyways great build love watching your channel..
@CamaroAmx Жыл бұрын
I was lucky, mine would just vibrate loose and cause a misfire. Thankfully the boots were tight enough to keep me from loosing them completely. Kept a spark plug socket and wrench in the truck for just that occasion. Never took any threads out. It had 220,000 on it when I traded it in. My grandfather had bought it new. Special ordered it. He kept it mint. Then my father got it and used it as work truck. In 5 years it went from 70,000 miles on it to 210,000 miles on it by the time I bought off him (he travelled a lot for work). By then it was trashed and rotted.

They rusted out in some strange places. Mine rust out at the top of the drivers footwell. Couldn’t find out why feet were always cold. Pulled the fender well cover off and seen a rust hole in the upper foot well. Just a small rust hole. The metal around it was perfect. The front ends rotted out quick on these. So did the area around the rear wheels.
