I have the same year and model 97 Merrcedes e320 and has the same no signal from the cam sensor condition. The car has the same condition yours had in this video-no injector pulse due to no signal being given to trigger the injectors. We replaced the crank and cam sensor and thought we got a bad sensor but still no cam sensor signal. Also, I only see about 1.5 volts at the sensor wire. Ignition has 12 volts and ground is good with near zero ohms to motor and chassis from sensor ground. I assume the sensor wire should have around 5 volts reference voltage. I am hoping since everyone has been through the diagnose of this same car with you that someone can tell me where to connect the sensor wire with a new wire to get a good reference voltage to the sensor (IF) this is what is holding out the signal for the injectors to fire. I was told by a good Mercedes mechanic that the key is the issue as it will not allow the signal to generate through the system even though the motor turns over fine. He stated the wrong key will do this. This would be $300 to $500 to get all the components from what I heard. I know a little about the handshake (mating) between ECU, Key, and not sure about the rest of the connected components like since steering lock unlocks , but likely the maybe the door lock intrusion alarm system but not enough to find the wire to disconnect it. I wish I did so I can have my garage back. Let me know if anyone out there can provide the key to making this car run again. Has not run since 2011. watch your video patiently test each wire 😊, My 1998 C280, problem I has start the engine to warm up minute late it turn off itself , try to start no luck , 2 hour later I try to start it work ? any suggestion

I wanted to add that the red light comes on the mirror like it should when remote is triggered once and the green comes on when triggered again. I assume this means the intrusion alarm is unlocked so does this mean the key chip is not the issue here with signal not generated to injectors? I am thinking its the reference voltage thing but where can I get tied to the correct 5 volts or what ever to make the cam sensor trigger correctly? Maybe way off base but would appreciate any guidance from you all. Sincerely, Kleff

My car sound like this I changed the cam shaft spark plugs crankshaft and all I’m working on my timing belt I even changed the alternator I don’t really know what I’m doing but I’m learning I have crank no start rn but it sound just like this one no different

Hi Tim.. I have 98 Mercedes Benz ML320.. the car is crank and start for one or two seconds then shut off and I have code # P0110 (intake air temperature sensor 1) and I already changed it but same thing.. can you help me please

It's the key. If you have a second key, try the second key and it should work. I've had the same issue and for whatever reason, it seems that the key no longer is programmed to the truck. When this happens, you get exactly what you've explained.

Timmy and Silvia, here are a few observations I made during your video:· 1 - the immobilizer alarm caught my attention first, Mercedes have issues if you let the battery completely die, especially with their anti-theft immobilizer, however you proved that she will crank which is puzzling 2 - are there red and green alternating lights in the rear view mirror when you are trying to start the car?· 3 - I am wondering if your security system is completely disabled? 4 - could that weak battery be the source of the no-start causing a reoccurring glitch (some modules forget VIN numbers when the battery dies) in the security system? 5 - I have heard where you use the key in the driver's door to disarm the immobilizer by locking and unlocking the driver's door, make sure the door is fully closed when you do this (sometimes you have to repeat the lock/unlock a few times) 6 - by the sound of the engine during cranking, the timing or compression sounds off 7 - from a little research on the web, apparently these engines are known for crank position sensor failures (I know you proved it generates a pattern, but do you have a sample of a good pattern?) 8 - the cam sensor could also be at fault because it is not controlling spark like it should if the crank position sensor is faulty I would love to see you get this car running again, the price was right and Silvia seems to like it. Hey Len, okay, here is a little more info, and I hope the other guys who are helping out reads this: The batteries on the remote were dead, but during the video, they were new. 2. We were wondering the same thing about if the system was completely disabled, but not sure how to tell. 3. The red and green lights is suppose to let us know if the system is disabled, and when we pointed the remote to the one below the mirror, it did flash red, but then it went green when we tried it again. 4. The person who had the car said one day his daughter came home, everything was fine. She went out the next morning to go to work and it would not start. 5. We did try the locking and unlocking of the doors from the passenger's side BUT, we did have one of the rear doors open. We will charge the battery, then re-do that test today. 6. The cranking could be because of the battery, but we should still have injector pulse. 7. I should have shown you guys a good pattern from the crank (shown on the Vantage) before I did that test. Today I will show you how a good pattern looks, then re-do that test. 8. Makes sense what you are saying. Maybe it already had a bad crank sensor, then the cam sensor went which would mean both are bad now. Thanks Len, and we will see you today on part 2.

Hey Tim thank you for your video, I have 2 E 320's and both of them have the same issue, the transmission won't shift past 2nd gear anymore, I had the conductor plate replaced on the 99 but the shop never tested the solenoids so I'm back to square one, now the 97 decided it now doesn't want to start all of a sudden, just doing what yours was doing in this video... what should I do, I'm broke now from dumping so much money into them?
