1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX- Toyota PRIUS Electric Steering System Install- PT 1

Our 700 hp 1997 Mitsubishi eclipse GSX dsm we will be installing a FULLY Electric power steering system from a 2009 Toyota Prius. Our PT 1 OF 3 will include how to test and operate the eps, and the completely disassembly of both the 2g and Prius steering columns.

There's an easier way btw. Use a Vauxhall corse electric power steering column. The length is better. And the lower U joint can be adapted to fit easy. Nice work though

I think I rather to keep the factory power steering system. I'm not at this level yet lol. I finally turned on the engine but I didn't install the camshafts seals so you know what happened next lol. To bad because it sounded amazing for the 5 seconds it was running. I also had a massive fuel leak wich I fixed but then the oil started leaking profusely. That was two weeks ago and it's all fixed but I just haven't found the passion to finish it. I just need to install a couple more things back, I just can't find the desire to do it.

Almost the same thing happen to me awhile back...I installed the gtx3076r turbo on my girls Evo x... INSTALLED THE OIL LiNE ON THE WRONG HOLE ON THE BLOCK....oil went everywhere lol

The sensor doesn't matter how it's orientated

Very nice man, appreciate the dedication , I used a mr2 for the white eclipse and a Nissan Versa EPS column for my other eclipse retrofitting the dsm parts onto the Nissan column, works, but I like this idea better. Looking forward to Pt2

No with this system the speed signal is not used.. however I been looking Into a switch for the "switch wire" to turn off the system while at the track.

@@1fastcolt you know he can wire in an on off switch so if he wants manual again he can just switch it off, it will still have the added weight of an eps unit/motor, but if you wanted the feel of de-powered setup at the push of a button this works, i have been running something similar to this for a few years now, i will never go back to a hydraulic setup.

I sold my complete 09 prius for $500 with a bad battery. Didnt know the steering shaft alone was 250

Just replace the bad cells in the battery....everyone is so intimidated buy hybrid batteries, but once you pull the out the safety plug you'll only get shocked with 15v maximum if you do something stupid.
