Hey Jay, I had a similar problem with the Prizm and replacing the fuel pump fixed the problem. it’s been a few months and the car starts right up. Also, check your air filter and spark plugs. You may need a tune up.

Thank you for the demonstration. I have a few questions, if I may. 1) The new pump does not exactly match with the old one. I saw a small thing looking like AA battery or a capacitor next to the floating handle in the original one that was missing on the new one. What is it? 2) What symptoms did you have that was a sign for replacing the fuel pump? 3) How did you eliminate the pursuer in the tank before taking out the pump? 4) Is the new pump "after market" and where did you get it? 5) is the new pump working OK so far? Thank you

Hey Ali, thanks for the questions. I got replacement fuel pump from eBay. It was a good deal! It’s still going strong! It was aftermarket but had good reviews. The car was hard starting, it sometimes would crank six or seven times before turning over. Sometimes it wouldn’t even start. My mechanic suggested the fuel pump. So I turned on KZbin like you and found some really good videos. I was so easy even a novice like me could do it!! I released the pressure by opening the gas tank cap, I only lost a tiny bit of fuel. Be careful and watch the full video. I think my camera man did a good job on this one. Good luck!!

I have a question I have 99 corrlia and my problem is last year when I started the car when I haven't drove in it for a few days it would stumbled to start and now it doesn't want to start anymore does that mean that the fuel pump is bad? I checked the fuel pump relay with the horn and it still won't start

You did a very dangerous thing my friend, using that electric screwdriver on that lid, as tempting as it is to use anything electric around the gas tank everything manual nothing power otherwise great video
