Great video, EXCEPT at 2:29 anyone who reads this, DO NOT put the grommet and O-ring in the fuel filter before putting the fuel filter back on the assembly, we wasted almost an hour trying to get it on. This guy even changed the approach without mentioning it at 2:55 where the grommet and O-ring suddenly appear on the plastic part before he puts the fuel filter back on. It easily slides right in once you know to do it that way. Could’ve done this while in less than 30 min otherwise, super great follow along and very informative. 👍

you mixed up the filter port with the pump. 2:29 is the part that connects to the pump housing assembly not the pump itself.

Well-made and step by step and complete and careful. NO SMOKING or sparks at all ! Mine was replaced at 282K miles by a mobile mechanic (one-time and no need to risk anything with a DIY) using certified OEM caliber parts. Immediately helped the hesitation and will give it a day or so to 'relearn' the ECM setting needed for my driving pattern.

I had a couple of the rubber pieces and the plastic sleeve in various positions, and it just didn't want to assemble correctly. a couple of pauses had me realize the rubber 'cushion' went on the top piece, not inline with the filter and the pump. What are some of the symptoms the car was experiencing before replacing the fuel pump? I have a 2000 Chevy prizm with a slight acceleration issue under load and a slight miss at idle. I have replaced o2 sensors, pvc valve, spark plugs(iridium), vvti sensor, temp sensor, intake manifold gasket, checked primary and secondary resistance on the coil packs, vsv switch, Denso MAF sensor, and fixed the exhaust leak and I still have a slight miss at idle. I’d check the cell code but the previous owner had a aftermarket keyless entry installed and hardwired directly to the port🤦🏼♂️. My last guesses at this point is that it’s either the IAC or fuel pump and or regulator related but I need a pressure tester. Any recommendations?

I broke the clip, how do I find out what type of clip to order? Where is the best place to get something like this. Rock auto? Amazon? Ebay? There is a quick connect under the floor pan connected to a hose that goes to the front of the car. If I could order an identical quick connect I could insert a T at that spot and attach a fuel pressure gauge. Any idea where I can order one of these types of quick connects? Great video thanks!

Awesome guide, thanks. My car sometimes take longer than I'd like to start. I fixed my starter(was having the click sound no crank issue) by replacing the plunger and contacts in there, but the car still takes a while to start. I was thinking maybe it's a dirty fuel filter and could just replace the filter and strainer, but maybe should replace more if I'm already going to be in there. Not a must do job yet, but probably a smart thing to do soon(almost 190k miles on my 99 corolla). EDIT: Also lately have had issues with an improper fuel level reading, the other day I wasn't looking and the fuel came right out of the fill port onto the side of my car and onto the ground. I ordered the fuel pump, strainer, filter, and gasket. On the fence if I want to order the fuel level sending unit as well and the fuel pressure regulator. The pressure regulator can get quite pricey unless you get one of the cheap ones that are only around 20 bucks. Not sure how much those cheaper ones can be trusted though. I know it's cheaper to replace the parts rather than spend 5-6 hundred on the whole assembly, but this is quickly becoming an expensive job. At least I'll save the money on labor thanks to guides like this one though.

@3rdGenGuy5 жыл бұрын
i didn't end up needing the black RTV as the black screw in plate had enough butyl rubber to seal back up. that's the plate that screws to the gas tank. you want to replace the fuel filter AND screen. the filter is OLD OLD at this point and is mostly clogged up. the screen's go bad as well. they get brittle and snap off.
