Tool I needed in order to remove the top 5.5mm screw from my damper motor. Short version: 1. cut the tip off a 5.5mm socket 2. glue/weld it to a 1/4” screwdriver bit shank 3. use a 1/4” ratcheting wrench to turn the shank

Great video. I believe the only other alternative is to remove the dash. I'm just going to NEVER use recirculate mode again. It's not worth it.

This is awesome, thanks for putting it out there. I'm in oiling my fan motor, which started squeaking. I may have to replace it if the oiling don't help. From my other vehicle experiences I try to keep the original one as long as I can, seems like the parts now days are junk. So while I'm in there I decided to replace this recirculating door motor and found your very helpful video.

How are you oiling?
@slalomking11 ай бұрын
@@RifeB6892 I took it out of vehicle, put it on bench in vice. Took the fan motor apart. Dropped in machinist oil (light weight oil with no additives in it) every day for a week. Each time removing the shaft out of the bronze bearing. Basically getting the bronze bearing to absorb the oil. So far it has been good up to this posting date.

Thanks trying to fix mine as well because it's making this God awful knocking noise. I'm honestly just ready to go through everything ac and heat related either fixing or doing preventative maintenance.

I have 2013 Silverado. Each time I press the recirculation button it blinks 3 times then goes right back to the outside air indicator. Is this a need for the recirculation actuator replacement ???

Thanks I know I can do it now .

Does that one control the heat? I have no heat in my truck and that actuator is clicking.
@drumrooster2 жыл бұрын
Same here my heat won't get but 1/2 hot.. thinking it may be the fresh air door not closing all the way?
@tubehound692 жыл бұрын
@@drumrooster My heat is the same way. It doesn't get very hot. The recirc actuator started clicking years ago, so I just unplugged it with the recirc door open so I could have max AC in the summer. I didn't think that would affect how hot the heat was though. If it does, explain to me why? I'd like to know (not trying to be a jerk). I thought maybe the heater core was plugged with leaves, so I changed that...no help. Got a bore scope so I could check out the ducting...It was clean. I'm baffled. I did plug the actuator back up today. I didn't think about trying the heat to see if it is better. I'd do that right now, but I've had a few beers and it has always taken FOREVER (10-15 miles on the interstate) for that engine to get to normal operating temp. The recirc door being open does seem to affect the defroster's ability to defog the windows because with the recirc door open it just recirculates the humid cabin air.
@tubehound692 жыл бұрын
@@drumrooster Actually after doing some investigating, I think the door that controls heat/cold air is not actuating completely. I put an instaread thermometer in the vent and once I got the heat control to about halfway to full hot the air did not get any hotter. Has to be a door not moving completely.

@@drumrooster this controls the recirculation door or fresh air

Darned if I know where it is now! I'm sure it's somewhere in a tool drawer but I haven't seen it lately. An inexpensive Harbor Freight grinder and some epoxy will have you in business in a few hours if you want to make your own.

I'm just going to drill a hole --- from the outside of the driver's fender clear through everything to the recirc motor.
