I like the newer generations very much, but the IV has a unique style and it's a very good size for UK roads. Pity it's not ULEZ/CAZ compliant.

This review had a slightly hazy, psychedelic atmosphere to it, the presenter was like a sort of mellow Partridge .

In 1998 they were the fastest four door car in the world. Same speed as a Porsche 911. These V8 twin turbo 320HP QP4's are superb cars. They weigh only 1,500Kg so are far better handling and way faster than all the latest heavy 2,000Kg Maseratis. Only about 20 QP4's are still running in the UK at present. In a few years there will only be one or two, or maybe none at all. So extremely collectable.

Probably reasonably representative of the target market at the time, ie, old money men in suits, rather than new money men in suits who bought Porsches.

The QP IV driven is a V8. The V6 was launched in 1994. The V8 in 1996, as was the Ghibli Cup. But it was probably 1997/8 before RHD versions arrived in the UK.

The QP IV is about the size of an older 3 Series BMW. Unlike the QP VI it wasn't a left-field alternative to an S Class. Back in the day, it was pitched as more of an upmarket alternative to a 5 Series, even as an everyday supercar. Interior quality better than Ferrari at the time. And pitched to Ferrari customers and others as an alternative to an M5 for everyday use. While not as good as an M5 as a sports saloon, it was and remains an excellent choice for someone who doesn't want something common. And it's a very good size for UK roads.
