I was at this game and 16 years old at the time. Sat toward the top of the bowl around the 30 or 40-yard line, but in 40,000-seat Vanderbilt Stadium, the top was still close enough to the field to have a great view. I remember getting tickets was easy. What I remember most about the non-game experience was a bunch of people making fun of the halftime performance (a college band) and a drunk man running down the icy/slushy bleachers as fast as he could before falling and tumbling into people's laps. 🤣 I loved the Vikings offense that year, and these two teams' helmets and uniforms were my favorite in the NFL.

I always thought was a bit strange that the '98 Vikings despite having a regular season for the ages appeared to be more interested in hunting records in this game. It was still a close game in the 2nd half, and they really didnt appear to get serious with Tennessee until Cunningham hit Carter for the TD. And then Moss with an outrageous catch over Denard Walker. And it was rather fitting that their regular season wrapped up at Vanderbilt Stadium in '98. Its also rather amazing that just a little over a year later, the former Oilers turned Tennessee Titans would be in the Super Bowl, and come up 1 yard short of winning it.

@s.tavares32574 жыл бұрын
Marty Gras I wish Billick had more say in the offensive calls in the 98’ championship game. They took a knee before halftime, and played very conservative down the stretch.. complete opposite of how they played all year. I felt that cost them the game as much as Anderson missing that field goal.

@martygras3785 жыл бұрын
The announcer explained that while he wasn't IN the endzone, he was going towards it, and was throwing it away to avoid a safety, which is what it would have been, had he not been throwing it away to avoid the safety. So it sounds like it was actually a CORRECT call, so some other call will have to be the worst call you have ever seen.

You can say the lions were always a joke but in the modern Era, Wayne fontes had some formidable teams. The Barry sanders Era.
