Cris Carter and Randy Moss was the most dangerous receiver duo in the NFL from 1998-2000.

Jerry Glanville is my favorite color guy of all time. He was knowledgeable of course. I appreciate his perspective as a defensive coach -- I can't think of anyone who explains defense like he does. Most just talk about the quarterback. He clearly loves the game and enjoys being there. And, he is funny as hell.

The 98 season is remarkable except for the TB game , it's great to watch over &over , only 2other teams ever went 15-1 & 2 teams go undefeated ever , making it at least the 3rd-5th best season performance in history , yeah the 3rd best n my world

The one issue after watching this, and the reason I loved Cunningham, Brad rarely even looked at Moss
@s.tavares32575 жыл бұрын
kootybear I agree. Cris Carter even said so himself that the only qb they had that could get the ball deep to Moss was Randall. Brad was a good qb, but didn’t have the arm to get the ball to Moss consistently like Randall did.

Brad Johnson was one of the least athletic Qbs but made the most athletic plays. He would not have put up as good of numbers but think we had a better chance to win with him. Moss with one target in this game.
@s.tavares32573 жыл бұрын
He was athletic actually.. He played basketball in college.. He didn't have the biggest arm, which was why he couldn't reach Moss deep like Randall and Daunte could. But he was a very consistent and underrated qb.
@grogge113 жыл бұрын
@@s.tavares3257 I mean athletic by NFL standards. Not many guys can say they became a starter in the NFL.
@jackjohnson57143 жыл бұрын
I think we had a better chance to win with Cunningham. It appears to me that Johnson mostly used Moss in this game as a 2 DB sponge to make his decision tree and field of vision smaller and simpler, hence all of the Glover, Reed, Carter targets. The winning strategy in '98 seemed to be to continue to throw to Moss in double coverage in these situations, and I think Johnson eschewed that strategy in this game because of poor arm strength and lack of release quickness.
@mattt88893 жыл бұрын
seeing Johnson play again, it strikes me that he takes a second too long to release his throws.

Maybe, but Ditka was a lousy coach. Musical QBs, simplistic game plans, etc. I always thought he was over-rated in Chicago and Benson hiring him was a panic move after negotiations with Bill Polian broke down. Benson was trying to follow the Jimmy Johnson model and failed. They were a miserable 3-13 the following year, getting blown out on more than a few occasions.

OMG, the more i see of Brad Johnson throwing INT's this game (& year) the more miraculous the 15-1 Reg season record, and how bad my memory of his skills/performance was. Awful. Simply Awful. Also of note, watching the '98 season alone of ref calls (& lack of them) i can see why the NFL brought in instant-replay-officiating for "further review." (tho' Vikes ST's were guilty as hell on that TD; you play until the whistle is blown; no excuses at pro level)
