This is like a time machine. Thank you for this. I am a longtime vikings fan and when we picked Moss I knew this team would be special. I started my annual "this is our year" bs right after the draft. Funny thing is a guy I work with kept telling me, before the season started....the falcons will win the NFC. I made fun of him. I laughed at him. Weekly. Right up until OT in the championship game. Its pretty remarkable he called it like that as they came out of nowhere.

You’re very welcome.. I remember that magical year. I was listening to sports radio talk about Moss, and how other teams didn’t want him because of his off the field stuff.. but once I heard him going to the Vikes, I knew he was going to flourish cuz he had Cris Carter & Denny Green to guide him... but even I didn’t expect him to have as great of a season he did. I thought that couldn't be right, so I looked it up. Not only was it his only time targeted all season, it was the only time he touched the ball from scrimmage that season. His 1998 line reads 0 rushes for 0 yards, one catch for 64 yards.

I'll never forget the draft from 98. My roommate at the time and we're hoping for some secondary help. Moss wasn't even on our radar as he figured to be long gone. And on a side note, we couldn't stand Moss based solely on the shades he sported at the Heisman ceremony. Then when it looked like he might make it to our pick, my buddy and I completely changed direction. Funny, previous bias's went out the window when there was chance he could wear purple. Holy cow the next 8 months were one helluva ride

The Falcons won that game only to be decimated by the Broncos. The Vikings very well may have put up a better fight, but they wouldn't have beat the Broncos neither. John Elway, Terrell Davis, Shannon Sharpe, Rod Smith, and Ed McCaffrey would've easily exploited the the Vikings Defense. Terrell Davis alone could've tore up that Defense that gave up 248 rushing yards to Tampa in their only loss in the regular season.
