GOAT in my opinion is Maddux! This guy threw 88-90 all his career in the steroid era when big flies were the norm and how he navigated through lineups every 5th day was second to none in the modern era. I’ll never forget the CG he threw vs the Cubs. He threw 78 pitches! Pitchers today throw 78 pitches by the 4th inning!

When you see big power hitters up, you know Maddux is licking his chops
@carteljameson83952 жыл бұрын
Not his entire career. He was throwing around 93 in the minors and his first few years in the league. But at his best, 88-90 is indeed where he sat.
@eaglewinnings8003 Жыл бұрын
Lol false. While I agree Maddux is one of the GOATS, he threw 92-94 early in his Cubs career/Braves career. Glavine is the one who barely ever cracked 90 and had a HOF career. He was a wizard.

sometimes i wish i was born in the early 80's and not 95... just so i could see when MLB was actually having pitchers pitch a game lol ugh.. but ill say the home runs these guys hit are pretty neat lol

Prime Maddux, Chipper and Andruw. This was, in my opinion, the best Atlanta Braves team in history. It was one of the best baseball teams in history. Imagine if you could put Andruw, Acuna and Hank in the outfield with Chipper, Andrelton, Furcal and Freeman in the infield. Pair them with Smoltz and Brian McCann and you have the greatest baseball team of all time.On the bench would be Prado, Javy Lopez, Heyward and Murphy. The bullpen would be Kimbrel, Avery, Wholers and Rocker. If dreams came true.....
@jeffwright44912 жыл бұрын
Helluva team....You'd want Maddux circa '92-'95 when he was the best pitcher on the planet. Glavine circa '91-'93. Smoltz "96-'98. Throw in late 70's Niekro as your innings eating #4 guy since Hank is playing. Late 50's early 60's Hank when he was the at his absolute best. Hard to imagine anyone beating that team. You'd have 4 20+ game winners with a slam the door pen and an absolute beastly offense. Speaking of....which park would you want to watch them play in? Personally I have a soft spot for Fulton County aka the Launching Pad. Freeman would LOVE that park.

Pete Van Weiren used to frequent my place of work almost daily en route to Turner Field when the Braves were in Atlanta. Still to this day he has the greatest voice for any announcer/commentator maybe the greatest voice ever. I'm almost certain he didn't use any tobacco products because we sold them and he never bought anything except lottery tickets. I was just a preteen who cried when the Braves lost in the postseason (I shed a lot of tears watching baseball if you know anything about baseball in the 90s) so being able to talk to him was special to me even though he wasn't even a player. We lost him way too soon. RIP to, IMO, the best Braves announcer on TV and radio (including John Sterling who is still the voice of Yankee radio). Skip Caray also passed away way too soon. The Braves TV/radio quartet of Van Weiren, Skip Caray, Dodgers Hall of Fame pitcher Don Sutton and Joe Simpson is the best announcing team in sports history.

3:58 Maddux being Maddux... That pitch always amazed me as a kid. I used to throw in the back yard and wonder why my ball didn't move like that. Every other pitcher on the planet wanted their ball to move like that and only one could do it.
