Yeah the older rangers with the 3.0s will last a lot time I just put a bran new autozone transmission in it last weak so it’s finally on the road again

Oh, shit handle 😂 I just remembered, I had a 99 Mazda B4000 about 12 years ago. same truck as the Ranger

$1300 bucks? 😳 You are lucky. I had a 97 XLT. I paid $2700 for it about a year and a half ago. I just sold it because it was nickel and diming me to death. It had the same color interior as yours but dark green exterior. I like that autumn gold exterior on yours. I might look for a 2011-12 at the end of the year. Prices down here in Florida are ridiculous. A 2011 with about 80,000 miles is going for $18,000 🙄

Yup 1300 bucks but I’m about 4000$ all in on this truck I’ve done a lot of work to it to get it nice an reliable my first ranger that’s in my photo I paid 1200 for that ranger an it was a decent ranger Tobad I never did a video on it
@kamryn74963 жыл бұрын
Honestly I wouldn’t buy a ranger newer then 2008 because from 09-12 they just come with slow 2.3L or 4.0 sohc witch is not reliable them timing chains will fail quick I’d rather have a 98-08 ranger with the reliable 3.0L ohv engine there very easy to work on 3.0 is better an known to last 300k or more

Great vid! I have a 2006 extended cab 3.0 as well & stumbled onto a topper shortly after getting it too. For no reason too just to like it sounded like u did. Replaced back window shocks too but got keys off key codes for the topper lock tho. a trick I learned working with dealerships many many moons ago. *tip for anyone else coming across questionable pasts’ topper campers, if there’s numbers stamped on the inside somewhere near the back & was on the rear drivers side back corner of my leer by the serial #s, that’s the key codes for that topper (way easier assuming the locks have never been changed out in its lifetime) & either online (like I did) or go to a camper dealer or a camper lock specially place & tell them you have key codes & would like (#) of keys & whatever they charge, they charge. same for nearly any lock on a vehicle. with its VIN, nowadays u can get same said key codes for u car providing proof of ownership of course to dealerships/locksmiths 👌🏽 did same with the deck as u did too 😂 I think I’m gonna do a cluster swap after seeing yours. I’m having shifting problems like I think I seem in your other vids but I’m @ 177k in the phx, az area from the 505, where it looks like your @. I recently replaced the rack & pinion & was only leak. Like u said, no leaks either until r&p gave & after replacing all was fine 👌🏽 keep up the good work 👍🏽

Yeah the 3.0s are pretty reliable mines now got 168k I’ve been having a little issue with it the engine just started pinging under load because it’s running more lean then it should still trying to figure that out wonder if my eBay injectors are no good as I checked everything else other then that it’s been a great truck I also just put another new transmission in it 2k miles ago. I figured it would be easier to just buy new locks for my camper shell then go to a locksmith I paid 16.99 for both locks off Amazon so can’t complain I really want to find a 04 or newer ranger that’s clean with the 3.0 I think the 3.0 is better for the reliability 4.0 sohc is cool it’s got little more power but there unreliable with there timing chains failing I’ve seen them fail under 100k cluster swaps are pretty easy to do on the rangers 2002 an older I believe yours has the digital mileage there still easy to swap the cluster but I don’t believe you can swap your mileage over to another cluster you want to use on the newer rangers

Nice little truck, man. I’m a big longtime of these trucks, but I don’t really understand the manual windows, locks & mirrors on an XLT trim model either, at least one out of this time & era. To me, years before ‘99 it wouldn’t be quite as questionable. I’d think all XLT trim models would have power options like the F-Series trucks of then & before did.
@kamryn74962 жыл бұрын
Yeah with it being a XLT only option I have is cruse control I guess carpet was a option to with xlt trim I also hate how Ford didn’t give you a rpm gauge on some manual xlt rangers like this one crank windows do get annoying sometimes one thing I liked about the 2000 Mazda B4000 I had it had power everything
@2H25212 жыл бұрын
@@kamryn7496 Yep, carpet, CD player, chrome wheels, chrome trim & different door panels are what you get with the XLT’s without power options. I’ve even seen some XLT’s without cruise control.

@@2H2521 yup I just added a viper alarm to this truck so I now have power door locks an I love it now I can deal with crank windows but power door locks is a must have for me I get tired of reaching over to open the passenger door 😂

What did you need the truck topper for?
@kamryn74964 жыл бұрын
Didn’t really need it I just seen it an it was only 100$ was a good deal figured I could leave stuff in back of the truck an it wouldn’t get wet by the weather an I could always just resell it for 250 an make a profit it’s a decent topper

I have no clue how you guys find vehicles for so very cheap. Everything I find under $3,000 ends up being a scam!

It is possible the guy that sold me this truck was asking 3,500 dollars but like I said it didn’t run right but it was a clean truck i offered him 1200$ for it an he took it but right now I’m probably 4000$ into this truck but I think it was a good deal but I did buy this truck before COVID started ever sense that really started prices went up it’s crazy
