Thanks for the breakdown. My GSX is 1996 with an 800 motor. Process was very similar. It help me out a lot

What about the yellow wires? Does the placement matter in the plug? I know the black one matters, but so the others?

Have an 01 gtx rfi with no spark. Stator is suspect,never been replaced.was a little apprehensive about tackling that job but after your well done video I think I can do it. Thanks a bunch for taking the time. Maybe one of these days I’ll try to a youtube how too

Did you ever replace the stator? I have the same problem, no spark at all when turning over? I changed all parts except the stator.

Very helpfull i thought for sure motor would have to come out to replace. Noticed old stator had some sort of plastic dip on complete assembly.wonder if that helps seal out moisture issues.ur new one is just open copper hope that doesnt be an issue.maybe come up with way to dip in flexy paint or another form of watertight sealant?snookie pa.

What were the symptoms of the bad stator? I have a 2000 GTI that will crank for 1 second and stop cranking even tho the start button is still pushed

It was a charging issue. It was no longer producing voltage.

I have same issue as you but mine eventually starts after few tries. Did you ever figure out the issue ?

How did you know your stator was bad or going bad? I just bought my first older ski that had a new engine put in before I bought it and just wondering because I’m having a problem with something and I don’t know what it is. Thanks for any help or advice you can give me.

I was getting a low voltage light. I could do a days worth of riding and then the battery would die. I would have to charge the battery after every trip.

Omg thank you! I’ve been trying to get an answer to this literally for over six months thank you so much that sounds about like what I’m going through except I will go out for maybe I don’t know three or four hours after it has been fully charged and my friend and I will anchor out with all of our other friends hang out for a few hours and then go back in and it will not start I’ll get it home the next morning it’ll start. Now my biggest problem is trying to find someone who will work on a ski that is older than 10 years I’ve had no luck in the past year so I truly don’t know what to do. Thank you so much for your input hopefully I can find someone to fix this problem.

@@WagsGarage do you think I should try getting a new rectifier first? Or what? I’m going to order the parts and then hopefully I will be able to find someone to install them. I don’t know enough about skis to do this kind of work on them. Unless you happen to know someone in Wilmington North Carolina or close by! LOL

There is a way to test the rectifier. There are some videos online. The easiest test is to connect a volt meter to the battery. Get a baseline voltage with the engine not running, then start it and the voltage should climb. If it goes down, that means there is an issue with the charging system. IE. Rectifier, stator, fuse
