Pakistaboy Are you happy with it? :D Mine is from 2006 (the P1 like in the video, not the XP9) and it's still near perfect, no problems at all, the engine still runs so well. Though I crashed it into another car 2012 and almost the whole front up to the engine had to be redone. Other than that, the only real incident was a dead waterpump in 2015. I will probably drive this car till it's dead, wonder when that will be, 170k miles so far, love it. Edit: Oh and it's the 1.4 D-4D (75HP Diesel) and does around 50 miles per gallon lol

I still own it, for 17 years exactly, i only replaced the transmition, suspecting because it's French-built. For a single-liter engine it runs pretty good, and faster than any rivals. Everyone who sits inside thinks it's 1.3, and it has 340k on the clock

in just 2 years of driving i had all 2000 made models of cars. Merc A140 avantgarde 1.4 VW polo 1.4E MK3F and a rarther tatty 98' vw polo mk3 1.0. oh and the best one and still have. my toytota yaris 1.3 SR . TTE pakage on it, so TTE spoiler, TTE sports exhaust. 15 inch TTE alloy wheels, and in the same dark blue as in this video, looks fab, hammond is right the VVTI engine is tuned more to economy, no wonder why it gets around 8 mpg more than a 1.0 or 1.2 standard engines of or even the 1.4E engine in my VW polo. but push the acclerator to the floor and it will not only drink petrol, but at 3000rpm, that valve timeing changes, and you feel it. despite being sat in a more chair position (like in a MPV or Van , or Merc A140), it feels increadbly fast even at 30mph, compared to the more popular VW polo., due to its low center of gravity. MY 6ft 6 mate sat comftably in the back, (allthough a front passanger with short legs has to sit in the front as the glove box crushes up to their knees). and when i want to pick up a new applience, i can fold the back seats down, roll them over, the headrests and the boot lid all can stay in the car without haveing to sit in your footwell or the compleatly flat floor space, big enough for a washing machine or dryer, (somthing that a women with a modern 2015 ford fiesta was suprised at, stateing how much larger it is that her boot space). serviceing is cheap, tyres are £45 a piece, and averaging realistically 40MPG, really good on fuel.

This was one of the last cars with a soul and character to it. As ugly as it was inside-out, it just felt like a funny car to drive. Many cars today have this and that but don't have a personality. It was also a very easy car to live with, both in city and on long trips, with surprisingly relaxing and comfortable seats - even though visually the seals looked like the cheapest ever. The very slow steering and the horrible interior plastics and dash design were the weak points. Toyota redesigned this model in 2005 and put a very cheap suspension and uncomfortable seats, taking away all the fun of the older model.

Ugly? Lol! It looks and feels like a bubble car and I love it for that. Ugly is a funny word for the smart little Yaris. It’s a friendly, almost cute in a Japanese way sort of car.

Richard Hammond doesn’t half look young in this vid. I think he’s had his teeth whitened a few times since then.

Designed by Europeans? I don't think so. It's a very Japanese car, and thank god (or Toyota) for that. Apparently, the dude is not familiar with Toyota's JDM models.

I guess you're not familiar with the FACT that most Japanese and Korean manufacturers do have/apply European R&D. Particularly, for obvious reasons, for their European line of products. About >300 million potential clients make for those odds! ;-) Those touches can be seen, from the buttons on the dashboard to seats arrangement and a vast etc. That's something that's been going on for quite a number of years... Let alone the fact that many of these "Asian" cars are also manufactured in Europe!

@@crpth1 I know. That's why some of those designs are so terrible. I am glad my Scion was designed by a Japanese guy and has none of that Euro crap in it. Made in Japan, too.
