I just replaced the control arm, ball joints and linkages of my 2010 Kia optima, thanks to your video it's a similar vehicle to the Hyundai. However I realized It's easier to take out the old control arms with the ball joints together. Chances are that the ball joints will be worn out already or will need replacement soon so I'll advise they be replaced as well with the control arms.

Just replaced both lower control arms, ball joints and stabilizer links . All together 2 hrs. Very easy vehicle to work on. May have to raise wheel for access to resr arm bolt which can be blocked by sway bar.

You really need to torque that rear bushing with the control arm in its normal operating position - so either car on the ground or wheel jacked up to ride height.

Why would it matter? The bolt doesn't put much pressurure (if any) on the bushing. Just curious that the reasoning is?

also another trick is to put the nut back on and use the air hammer or cross pein swinging up the bolt your not going to damage the bolt its a thought bolt the nut will protect the threads. let me do it, please.

Anything different between control arms on the 2010 soul and the 17 was it difficult to get to that bolt up top would like to see where you went in on the wrench, but hey just out of surgery ?? Wow that's tough

The ball joint comes off completely with 2 17mm bolts, if necessary to release the taper its easier on the bench.

Yes it is easier to remove both as 1 piece. That's what I did. I replaced both as well.

You just replaced 1 control arm i was told that they are done by pairs. My mechanic recently replaced the right control arm on my hyundai santa fe 2007 and charged me $280 so I wanted to make sure he did the right thing and didn't ripped me off

I have a question cause me and my father struggled all day with this and didn't get it done Does bother the front wheels need to be jack up ? And do we need to jack up the suspension? I have a Kia Sorento LX 2012 and omg this took it out of us both we literally spent all day on this and still didn't finish lol I feel defeated

I would have been done already at the dealer i dont even take the pin out i cut it flush and shoot the nut off also use a ball joint press tool it does not ruin the ball joint but its faster then a hammer and if your going to use a hammer use a air hammer just a tip from a hyundai dealer tech who does these all the time spray stuff and let it sit for a little while im in ny lots of rust ball joint press tool works fast and grate there are different type and kinds. I also have a box of cotter pins
