Your presentations are really very good. Thank you very much for taking the time to show people(me included) how to perform these tasks. You explanations and videos are clear and to the point. You also demonstrate that one doesn't need $8,000,000 worth of tools to get 'er done.

Excellent video, I've noticed after replacing both front lower control arms that the Santa Fe sits about 3 inches higher in the front than the back now. Is this normal and will it settle down after a bit?
@CarswithNash2 ай бұрын
@michaelparker6819 If you had replaced the struts it might sit a little high, but I don't understand why the control arms would cause it to do that. Are you sure you got the right arms?

My 2008 Santa Fe 2.2 diesel crdi is leaking engine oil on the right lower arm causing the bush to deteriorate. Do you know what is the likely source of the oil leak?
@CarswithNash6 ай бұрын
Sorry, the diesel engine was never offered here in Canada, so i'm not at all familiar with that engine. Your best bet is to clean the engine off really good with some degreaser and then it'll be easier to see where the oil is originating from.

Hey I just bought a 2011 Hyundai Santa fe with a grinding in the passenger front wheel that only seems to happen when accelerating. Trying to figure out what exactly we need to replace. Found your channel while doing some research on it.

@CarswithNash2 жыл бұрын
@@sherrymaynard8879 Sounds like it isn’t too bad and should probably hold up for a little while yet. It would be best to have a mechanic test drive the vehicle and find out for sure what is going on, it can be difficult to diagnose such things from a description and I hate for you to be replacing parts needlessly. Just be warned the Santa Fe is a pretty pricey vehicle to keep maintained, I actually sold this one a few weeks ago because it was one problem after another.

Hi Matt, I don't know whether you answer online questions but I have not been able to find where the VVT solenoids input and exhaust units are located on the Kia 3.5L engines. Would really like to know this. Thanks, Bill R

I took mine off and can't get the new one to line up spent 4 hours last night any tips on what I should try
@CarswithNash2 жыл бұрын
Which part is giving you grief exactly? One thing you could do is loosen up the 3 nuts on the strut mount just under the hood, don’t take them right off, just loosen them so that you can move the strut around easier and get it lined up. Otherwise it’s pretty much just brute force to get it in there, you can use hammers and pry bars even.

How far down does the jack have to be let down for it to be considered the weight of the vehicle? Considering I'm not exactly skinny lol
@CarswithNash2 жыл бұрын
Normally the drive axles (CV axles) are almost straight when the whole weight of the vehicle is on suspension, if anything they will be angled slightly down though.

I'm working on a 07 Santa Fe and that bolt holding the ball joint is like seeze and don't want to come out.i don't want to use a Torch because don't want to burn the axle boot.im bout to get couple cans of PB blaster and wish me luck.i saw how you took it out by tapping the other side of the bolt 🔩 but in my case that same bolt is seeze in there. Kid lives on the shore a block away from the Ocean so rust is bad in that vehicle
@CarswithNash2 жыл бұрын
I hear ya, even on mine it was in there pretty good if I recall. Yup soak it good and try spinning it in the hole a bit to loosen it up.

@@CarswithNash the problem is that I'm the 2nd person who's doing this job.the 1st guy stripped both bolts. Looks like he used one of the universal socket metric and standard and stripped the bolt I'm gonna see if I can bang it a bit with the nut loosen.

You replaced just one side ... is it ok to do this or should both sides be done at the same time?
@CarswithNash Жыл бұрын
Best to replace in pairs, I actually did the other side about a month later, I just didn’t have time to do both and I think there were some issue with getting the other one in time, problems with shipping. There is really no safety issue to replacing only one side, especially if you align it like I did because that’s the only issue you could have is an alignment issue if there’s a discrepancy with the new part versus the original. But in most cases it’s just not worth it because the other side will wear out a short time later.
