1le c1500 obs silverado gen v l83 swap. big brakes, camaro irs and volvo electric power steering

This is very cool I have spent way to many hours on the internet trying to figure out the stuff you did to your front brakes. I have also been looking at the same irs swap setup but I will probable use a 25gal square body gas tank from a 87 blazer its about 100 for the tank and 75 for the pickup ( on rock auto) that will take the same in tank pump. Then just put filler in the back of the bed. Actually you did almost exactly what I am doing other than I am using an LQ9 ls and 4l80e and normal power steering and my truck already has power windows and locks. Absolutely a fantastic job! keep it up!

I called little shop to buy the hubs today and they refused to sale them separate from there kit. I wonder if the willwood ones will work.@@BuiltByMike

@yyoddball that sucks. When I called wilwood you needed to use their spindles. Baer makes the for the AZ performance kit but they wanted 700. I believe I paid under 500. Who did you talk to at lms. I messaged the owner through ig.

The willwood kit on lsm says the react spindles work for the willwood kit with minimal modifications for brake calipers so I would assume the bearing and spindle size would be the same. I can buy the willwood hub for 165 each on summit I will probably order that and 1 of each of the major pieces to check compatibility. I don’t have drop spindles yet so getting the willwood or react spindles seem like a good option anyway

Wilwood makes a 6 piston front brake kit for OBS's with a lot of different rotor sizes. The hubs come with 2 different lug patterns and you pretty much have use Wilwood pro spindles.

Yea they do. It's about 2k instead of maybe 800 total.

@@BuiltByMike True that. I had little shop machen me up a set of Wilwood 4 piston for a solid axle rear end, about same money.

@GNaron yea and I also like being able to get replacement parts easily. Also with the wilwood kit you need to run there spindles which is about another 600.

@@BuiltByMike I use the Wilwood 6 piston, 12" rotor kit. So I can fit 15" wheels. Around $1250. Wilwood pro spindles less then $400 and wilwood hose kit $75. Under $1800 the truck stop on a dime and you get keep the dime. Plus they look so good that I hated to hang the wheels.

Thanks for sharing your build! I have access to a 2015 Camaro and plan to use the IRS rear end as well. But, what about the front suspension and brakes? Would it be possible to use the complete front end from the camaro (control arms, spindles, calipers and rotors)?

If I get it right, you have the Hubs from little shop, Z06 rotors, ATS calipers and a "stock" spindle. About $1k plus spindles?

It's a beltech drop spindle. Everything else you are correct.

Just contacted Littleshop and they wouldn't sell the hubs by itself, only complete kits, back to the drawing board

You lower what you want. You need to buy the coils

If my truck frame is already c notched for a stock rear end is it a whole different style of notch and do I just have to put a new frame under it or am I ok with the old notch

Should be good . This notch is much longer but probably not as tall. But the brackets offer plenty of support. They are thicker then the frame

Then you'd have to drill out the rotors too. Alot more wheel options with 5x120

@duvlss_garage they have a couple different years. I just put volvo electric power steering in ebay. I wouldn't recommend running with a hydrobooster.

Only thing I couldn't figure out was the spindle. Didn't catch a brand. Did you drill and tap it for the caliper adapter?

@DennisRobert1 yes spindle has to be cut and drilled and tapped. These are just 2 inch drop belltech spindles.

@goodwood4572 hub is a little shop manufacturer hubs from there brake kit. Call them and they will make you a custom order. They run about 400.
