It's a little known fact that if you want improved braking on your 9th Gen Impala (or any 2nd and 3rd Gen W-Body, really) there's an easy and reasonably priced upgrade that's readily available using stock GM parts.
The 2012 through 2016 9G Impala 9C1 Police and 9C3 Detective models came standard with larger brake rotors on the front of the car than the civilian models. These brake parts will easily bolt up to the knuckles of any 2G and 3G W-Body.
The parts that are required are the 9C1-specific rotors, calipers and caliper mounting brackets. The 9C1 rotors are 323 MM versus the stock 303 MM. The caliper brackets are elongated to compensate for the larger rotors, however your stock calipers will not mount to them, so you will have to swap to the 9C1 calipers as well. Civilian brake pads will fit these calipers. Also it's VERY IMPORTANT to note that you will no longer be able to fit 16" wheels to your car after you install the upgraded calipers and rotors, as the relocated calipers will not clear 16s.
As I said, these parts are readily available. I purchased everything from RockAuto.com. Since I cannot link directly to parts at RockAuto, these are the part numbers you'll need:
Raybestos Street Performance coated rotor (Front - 2 Required) - 580387
Cardone Gray Powdercoated Front Left Caliper & Bracket - 18P5024
Cardone Gray Powdercoated Front Right Caliper & Bracket - 18P5025
Akebono ProACT Ultra Premium Ceramic Front Brake Pads - ACT1159
Now if you want to go the extra mile like I did, these are the part numbers for the brake hoses, and the rear pads and rotors:
AC Delco Professional Brake Hoses :
Rear Right - 18J4876
Rear Left - 18J4877
Front Right - 18J4914
Front Left - 18J4915
Raybestos Street Performance coated rotor (Rear - 2 Required) - 581033
Akebono ProACT Ultra Premium Ceramic Rear Brake Pads - ACT999
You could also poke around the RockAuto catalog and find less expensive options for the rotors, calipers, and brake pads. I splurged and went with the "coated" parts, as I live in the rust belt and road salt wreaks havoc on brake parts.

When I had my 2014 Malibu I upgraded to the 4-piston Brembos from the Buick Regal, boy that made a huge difference in both braking and longevity of the pads. Brakes with more surface area and swept area are always a good idea on this big cars. GM loves to cheap out on it.

Yes they do! I owned a Grand Am years ago and learned quickly they had the same front brakes as the Cavalier and were way undersized.

Yeah they sure do! I owned a Grand Am back in the 90s and it had the same brakes as a Cavalier. GA was 2-300 pounds heavier, so you could imagine how "well" it stopped!!

Yep i really dig your channel and i will try not yo bug you to death....so i vot an 08 lt with ltz package its seen better days, an 06 ss pretty cool car but belt thrown off by bad balancer going to be a job a tough one i believe...so i bought a 2011 LTZ 112000 miles and it needs brakes i am so glad you put those brakes on cause i was told it could not be done without a whole bunch of swaps...but i quess the only diff is rotors and changing out calipers and bracket? All back brakes remain the same... if you get the time to respond thanks

Damn, you're an even bigger 9G collector than I am!! 🤣 Please read the video description and check out my Part 1 video (also linked in the description) and you'll get your answer. The 18" wheels on your LTZ and SS will clear the front 9C1 calipers no problem, and the LT's wheels will clear if they're 17s. 16s are a no go. As far as rear brake parts go, the ones I have listed will only work on your 2011 Impala (the rear brake components were completely redesigned in 2011, so they won't fit the earlier models.)

Something is almost stoping my car when I am in drive and trying to move forward and it makes a scrubbing sound as as it is trying to go forward and it releases the car to move forward.It dose not do it again for a while.What could that be ??

Could be a stuck parking brake. One or more of the brake hoses could be so old that it's swollen and not allowing the fluid to be released. Could also be a bad wheel bearing. I mean it could be anything, really. I'd at least get the thing in the air and take the wheels off and inspect the brakes.

Hello, did you install your ZZP front sway bar, and did you have to remove tie rods or lower the cradle? I noticed my stock sway bar is cracked by the stabilizer link and would like to replace it, but wanted to know how tough it is to replace?

Sadly, those sway bars are still standing up (fully wrapped) in the corner of my garage, taunting me to no end every time I get in my car! 🤣 I promise I will have a video up sometime this summer, though! From what @Guido tells me, if you have the 3.6 engine, you shouldn't have to drop the cradle or unbolt one of the tie rod ends to get the bar(s) in and out. That remains to be seen - I also have to replace the bar on my 09 Impala, so I'll probably do a 2-for-1 video to show any clearance differences between the 2 powertrains..

@@CertifiedShadetree Yes I have the 3.6L, 2012 with 65k miles. I asked you about a P0019 code, I ended up replacing all 4 cam sensors and crank sensor all gm parts and the code has not come back and the engine is running great. I also just replaced my transmission fluid with full synthetic acdelco dexron vi.

btw the vvt's were clean as a whistle, and I put 12v to them and they were moving like they were supposed to.
