Wow watching the skills your dad taught you on the beach was amazing! I am so sad for Venice beach it was so bad when I visited in 2019, I haven’t been back. A few years earlier it was a favorite spot. It went from nomads selling art to tent city in only a couple of years. Loved that you kept it real. Also, keep playing your guitar, and show us all your talents. That’s my input 😉

In eastern Tennessee is the Cherokee national forest. Free camping all year. Park by creeks for two weeks then move about 1.4 miles to another campsite. I did this in 2016 and 17. After four years in the Philippines I will go back to national forests in June.

Hi Lidia, you should try the TX coastline before it gets to hot. Not only are the gas prices much much lower there are miles and miles of beaches to explore. You can basically start at the southern tip of Padre Island and explore the entire gulf coast around to the Florida Keys then head up the East Coast to visit all of the barrier islands which are beautiful especially during the warmer summer and fall months.

You can't stay overnight though

@Joe Gomez there are many places to stay overnight. I go down there all the time and have for years. There are state parks that offer simple tent camping to full commodity spaces with water and electricity hookups, some beaches require a simple beach parking permit that you can purchase anywhere from any gas station or grocery store for $5 that's good for a year. You can also buy both State and National Park passes that are good for a year that will get you into any of those parks. If you're resourceful enough and do the research, you can find places that will accommodate you and your van.

Life can get exhausting and I commend you for doing what you want. A little bravery, tenacity with a touch of adventurousness will keep you motivated but it takes a greater person to live in a scarred shell and still see beauty and wonder.

Thank you so much for sharing the realities of van life. I am preparing to buy my first van and I have decided to go for better MPG and more stealth in a minivan. I have weighed the pros and cons for five years while studying this lifestyle. I just sold my sports car and looking for a newer style Sienna because they get like 36 mpg! Many people don't understand the headaches that come with this way of living for sure. I used to camp and explore around the US in my 4Runner for 2-4 weeks at a time and it was challenging at times. Gas prices in Cali usually go way up in the summer too!!

Minivan is definitely a fantastic option if you put on a lot of miles. There are no complicated systems to maintain and service as well. An added benefit is easy maneuverability and parking. With the savings you can always afford campgrounds and sometimes hotels when the weather turns sour. It is really a shame you cannot buy minivan based campers in the U.S. like you can in Europe.

Love your vids! Dating sucks period! I gave up and been living “single life” a few years now and actually love it except it’s expensive because you don’t share expenses. I appreciate the honesty in this video. It’s coming from a long term van-lifer who has clearly brought this down to a fine science as to how to thrive in this life style, and it exposes problems not just within the confines of the van, but the actual driving and parking around that we rarely see or think about. Parking tickets, risks of graffiti, GAS prices, safety, all of which home owners and apartment renters take for granted as not having to or very rarely worry about. It truly makes a person stop and think about what this life truly means and not just what stuff you already own that you want to keep and you have to give up, but the concept of actually existing in a van.

What can I say? I have suffered very similar traumas and I live the same way in my big ass RV. I do it because I needed to reinvent myself after my life fell apart, also I refuse to be subjected to the tyranny of hyperinflated rent slavery. You ARE beautiful, I don't care if you are sick of hearing it. You are amazingly resilient like me so I respect and admire you. Keep being your wonderful authentic self, you bring a smile to my face and I'm sure I'm not the only one. You deserve to thrive because you chose to survive! ❤

Great video. I think another reason a lot of people quit vanlife because living in a van was never their goal. Their goal was to travel, to save money, to be free, or whatever and vanlife was the means to that goal. Once they feel like their goal is accomplished, or once they believe vanlife has taken them as far as it can, they move on to the next adventure. I would love to see a video about dating. I think van life is perfect for casual dating, but not so much if someone wants a long-term relationship. Most people don't want to leave their family and friends for perpetual travel. Hi Lidia! I do urban vanlife and yes power is a real issue! I just bought a 20' cargo trailer to park beside me and I'm putting an additional 3,000 watts of solar panels on it! Vanlife is amazing and free but we need big power to have a more hassle free life❤

Solution is buy some land for cheap maybe $20k to 70k depending on size and get nice security fencing around it and asphalt it and cameras and solar and now u can park your van or rv any size in it! Build a jacuzzi and swimming pool in it! Barbecue pit, fire pit, and you are set! No need to buid a house anymore, buy a car to get around and motorcycle

Lidia, I've been subscribed for a while now and I can honestly say that the majority of the issues you encounter are easily fixable by getting the heck off the West coast! Granted, there are parts of California, Oregon, and Washington that are beautiful but the people and governing bodies have ruined it. Telling you… all these problems happen all around the country. I got tickets and harassed by cops on the East coast as well. And go take a look on the homeless population in Miami for example or New York. When it comes to nothern California or Oregon the weather seriously sucks 🤣

My first time finding you. You are absolutely right, it's not for everyone. You have to give up a lot of conveniences from the sticks and bricks world to do this. @@brucehalleran1149 2023 F-150 is 6'3" to 6'7" depending on options. They enforce it by citing you - or by towing you on the spot in some cases in San Francisco on a first offense. I vanlifed there for years and saw it happen regularly.

Hi Lidia... Glad to see that you are still hanging in there, & continuing to make content. I did the vanlife thing for 4 years, all in coastal San Diego county (& recognised several of the locations in your older videos) I have dealt with a lot of similar struggles while staying close to the ocean. Although, my van can be a little taller down here, but nothing down next to the beach over 9ft tall between Memorial Weekend to Labor Day Weekend. I like your content & enjoy listening to you speak. If you were old (like me) or I was young & beautiful (like you) I would have a good solution for your dating issue 😅 But, anyway... Great to see you are still living & working vanlife. Meanwhile, I keep looking when I'm at Moonlight Beach or San Elijo Campground & maybe say hello sometime.

Being watching some of your videos for a while. I enjoyed your short demonstration with the nunchucks and the swords on the beach. Wonder if you know any tunes by the Gypsy Kings that you can play on guitar? When I was living in LA back some 30 years ago, there were issues with the homeless. Police use to sweep the Santa Monica beaches at night to keep the homeless from spending the night there. But, from what I have seen, it has become much worse. And not just in LA, but in many cities along the West Coast and elsewhere. Stay safe.

@@LidiaRico Yea Girl I get it.....Almost like you had 2 deaths. Van life is hard on relationships. We lost a few like Kombi Life.....Still trying to get Leah to do her own channel. I think she could tear it up even if she never shows her face. She is really burnt out and very introverted . Try some skatepark visits with other people show some skating with some guys who will let you film them. Do a skate part tour socal. That would be a fun video....bring in some new people who will agree to be in the channel and camp around a bit. or surf spots or both.

I'm not far from you in dry ass Reno NV (colder than Vegas) and I live in a downtown RV park (with available parking spot for you to hang and charge for a second if you want 😉). I'm old (52) but still act/feel/look kinda young and I'm just fine with open relations. Also, I'm not going to try and guess your actual vagabond job but I'm pretty sure we've got a few of those here too. Shaun White used to live in the area and often still comes around so we're kind of skating friendly. Also, we smell better and I'm pretty sure we don't have a vehicle height restriction like a lot of California does. The closest beaches to us are Lake Tahoe or Pyramid Lake (and smaller ones) or the Truckee River. We're about 4 hours from San Francisco. Love your van. Oh, and you're pretty dang beautiful yourself. 😁

Nice.. yeah things have gotten tougher- when I lived out of a van in Venice, homelessness was 10% of why it is now. Each town should have van life friendly zones. Your a professional and organized- there should be some zones
