Ducati 😲 nice bike! 👌 I saw your BMW r750 in another of your vids I dont know which I like better so I'd like the two if them as well haha.. Great design. I'm learning so many different styles of rings from your videos.. I'm self thought so they have been very beneficial to me this past year or two. Thank u Soham ✌

Thank you for showing how you measure the size of the shank. I'm brand new to silver jewelry fabrication, and I am really struggling with the shank. I'm going to try your measuring technique with my next ring. I've watched several of your videos so far. Thank you for teaching me, via KZbin, how to make jewelry! =]

Once again I find myself still up and lost in another Soham Harrison video at nearly 2 a.m. I've never watched without learning a technique or at least another tip. Here I've learned to flatten the pesky, rolling solder... Duh! Why didn't I think of that? Also adding the cotton thrumming strings to my bench. Thank you for sharing. BTW...Love the rings

Soham you are awesome! I’m 87. I started making jewelry about 4 years ago. I’m self taught. It wasn’t until about 2 years ago, when I discovered your videos, that I finally started to master silver soldering. I’m blessed-my hands are steady and my eyesight is good. My hand to eye coordination continues to improve. Thanks for your clever shop tips and for demonstrating the tools you’ve collected. I recently bought a Proxon cross feed table for my drill Press and have made some interesting pieces with it. Check it out.

Another great video Soham. Quick question.. would a tumbler with steel shot work to polish the surfaces in the gap between the two discs? If not, how would you get in there? Thanks much.
@1soham110 жыл бұрын
the gap is too small, but a thrumming string would work. you could make the gap larger by using chenier.

soham harrison Thanks Soham, didn't know thrumming strings existed :)

Anti-firescale ONLY on Hard metal? Is it related? thank you thank you again.

Generally you always want to use a firescale coating on Sterling when doing any heating with the torch. This includes when soldering. So you firecoat the whole piece or elements... then you apply your flux to the joints that you wish to solder. I just use boric acid and denatured alcohol for my firecoat. I do the same for gold as well.
@flyingcheff10 жыл бұрын
When to use flux as anti-firescale or when to use something like borax/alcohol (Pripp's?) and usually we see you use flux only where you want to solder (flow). Does that mean you only use anti-firescale when not soldering, only annealing? helfe!- kinda confoosing a bit!
@sohamharrison10 жыл бұрын
i know it is confusing since i usually don't show it in my videos. rio sells "fire scoff" which works great. the boric acid in alcohol is good, and so is "pripps" you should always coat sterling whenever you heat it up:annealing, soldering.
@wendyannh6 жыл бұрын
Doesn't Fire Scoff work as a flux, Soham? Or do you still have to add regular flux on top of it?
@Royster93110 жыл бұрын
It's a real bug bare "fire scale" I like Firescoff . I found the alcohol and borax made it hard to see the soldered area. A&E Metals are now selling Argentium. Would you consider it? Thanks for your Vids
@sohamharrison10 жыл бұрын
yes, argentium is great, but slightly different to work with. it is worth learning.

I thought I saw your video using flux as a fire scale ...would that work the same way?

Dumb question: (???) Is "Anti-firescale" the same as Flux? If not, what are we supposed to put on as Anti-firescale? Is it in addition to flux? Thank you sooo much!
