1:06 I had that exact photograph on my bedroom wall back in the sixties. How evocative it is to see it again!

Really enjoyed this one. Brought back a lot of memories of being a young Scottish boy growing up in England. Prior to this game, one of the English newspapers declared Celtic to be "the biggest fish in surely the smallest pond ever dug". Aye right!

Celtic versus the so-called "Team of the Century" LOL Celtic won the away game 1-0 and won the second leg 2-1 at Hampden Park (neutral venue). God only knows how many we'd have thrashed them by if we'd actually played the "Team of the Century" at home! 🤣🤣😅😅🤣

As a Yorkshire lad I was there aged 13 with my wonderful dad. We went to Elland Road to get tickets for our relatives and friends of my dear Mum who was a Glaswegian born and bred in Maryhill. The atmosphere in Elland Road that evening was unbelievable!! Fond memory was my dad, cooking a traditional Yorkshire Sunday Lunch for our visitors, who'd never had a Yorkshire Pudding.

A lot of people forget Celtic played Liverpool in 1966 European cup winners cup and had a perfect goal by Bobby Lennox chopped off in the last minute going out 2-1 in aggregate this final was at Hampden I’m sure Celtic would have had a good chance of winning it
@DavidBroadley-tw7ks Жыл бұрын
Yes there was a riot when Lennox s goal was chalked off Ian hun st John tried to rally scotland to get behind Liverpool in the final and support Liverpool in the final at hampden against the German dortmund it didn't work only 50 000 turned up and the Germans won😉

A wonderful old Team, I’m a Rangers supporter but they were fabulous. I travelled by foot & bus & train to watch the Final in the San Siro, they should have won easily , Feynoord were no great shakes but it didn’t happen, I think the constant & irritating noise of the Dutch supporters klaxons ruined the atmosphere. I remember feeling crushed at the end of the game & me and Tommy acquired a massive bottle of red wine to ease the pain. Oddly enough one of my great friends, (who played at Derby County at the time) was also at the game, we met many years later.

I tried so hard to watch this & the one from the 1st leg but the overwhelming piano music just crushed my soul. At times I could hardly hear the narration. Pity 😔

Excellent video. Enjoyed every minute of it 🍀🍀🍀 One tiny criticism thought,, as of someone who is getting a bit hard of hearing,, the background piano music was a little loud. Never the less, I enjoy all your video 👍

Thank you. That particular track is louder than the others I use and usually turned down lower. I'll turn it down another notch next time.

will you be doing the 1965 cup final ? almost 58 years now but what a game for those who were there i would imagine , going into last 10 minutes result in the balance with an Edwards shot hitting Clark onto the bar and over and then straight after McNeills winner. Those wooden goalposts did for Dunfermline !!

I remember that shortly after Celtic had beaten Leeds home and away there was a big English match on tv and as the teams were coming out the English commentator said " and Leeds United currently probably the best side in the world " "
@gerrycoogan6544 Жыл бұрын
LOL! 🤣 To be fair to Leeds, they only lost 3-1 over the piece against the best team in Britain.

Referee Michel Kitabdjian ordered Celtic to change their socks. It seems that the team had travelled with only their usual white socks and borrowed a red set from Leeds.
@P4ddyBh0yАй бұрын
@@asd36f Probably orange socks, according to most members of the team that night. Celtic thought it had been agreed the home team would change if the referee required it, so didn’t brink any change kit. Revie denied it and wanted to put Stein in a quandary. Blue or Orange would have given him a much more difficult choice than blue or red.

Celtic beat Leeds with room to spare..Gave them a lesson from the first minute.
@gerrycoogan6544 Жыл бұрын
Back in the day when Celtic should have proved they were the best team in Europe, Leeds got off lightly. There was nothing wrong with Connelly's second goal. If Stein had picked the same team in the final, Celtic would have won their second European Cup.
