Happy Spring Everyone!! Finally! This video is of Annette and I heading into the park with a view to catch some brook trout. We didn't catch any but it sure was a nice hike! Enjoy.

This reminds me of the long trips with my dad up the Bonnechere... railway trestles etc from the parking spot at end of trail near Flatiron Lake...there were still two trains a day so it got exciting crossing the really high bridges. We would carry a bunch of gear in the old army packs and fish Wolf Lake and then go the newly cut park line to Beechnut lake build a raft and catch the prettiest trout. Largest Brook Trout I ever caught in Ontario was on a dew worm fished on the bottom in Wolf Lake. At Indian there was a giant cold spring waterfall and I remember nearly blacking out when I stood under it on a hot day... My Dad was a Provost Sergeant and had been in the Second World War and the Korean war and was only really a fun person back in the trees, so I really enjoyed the many fishing trips.

The only Brookies I ever caught near Lake Traverse were at the bridge on the Crow and there was a little unnamed lake Northwest of the dam on Traverse... up a small brook about a half mile from the lake.... limit was 35 apiece.... catch that in an afternoon and be home in Petawawa around midnight...lol Dam was still there and there were still trains...The best trip was to Eustache Lake for Splake.... once fished 100 yds straight down from shore at the waterfall...was hard going but probably easy now.
