Good review Joe,to me the styling isn't good,front is not cohesive in particular.Having been in a standard A3,I agree that the interior looks no better and infact it feels a bit cheap and plasticky.Im not a golf fan but this RS3 maybe makes the over priced Golf R look a relative bargain..It sounds lovely though.

I watched your movies with M240i and 440i - and i've just going to buy m240i or rs3 and can't decide - i think sound from 240i was quite good, Which would you choose for dayli with best sound good audio and quite fast. I cant' decide because i can't drive any of them they are unavailable. I've only tried 440i grand coupe, and this feels to heavy but the sound was very nice. RS3 vs M240i which would you buy and why?. BMW is cheaper and i think more fun but is it ? Paweł

It’s a banger of a car for European roads. Easy to park, decent petrol mileage, hatchback, all wheel drive, sporty looks, simple interior, fun to drive, handles well in all weather conditions, and probably plenty of aftermarket goodies to modify this little beast.

@@JoeAchilles1 ...great video....glad you mentioned the turbo lag, because that was the only thing I kind of disliked while driving it first time. Apart from that, the car was precisely what my doctor´s ordered. It even steered like my old DC2 Integra Type R..😁 And yes.....I ordered one the next day 👍🏻 I suspect that turbo lag could be due to a turbo size needed to extract targeted 400 ponies.....😁 I believe that bigger RS brothers use a small supercharger to overcome the lag. It looks like they had to economise here on RS3 or maybe it wouldn´t fit in....?

@@pwfletcher007 The main factor is a thing called VRT (Vehicle Registration Tax). Take the base import cost of a car then add 23% VAT. Then take that new combined total and multiply by the VRT rate which is based on CO2 emissions. In the case of the RS3 as it is over 190g the rate will be 37%. And that is not 37% on the base import costs it is 37% of that cost plus VAT so basically a portion of it is a tax on tax. On top of that even when you apply all that tax the price will be slightly higher as Ireland is a small market and dealers are able to collude somewhat on prices to extract more profit. Imports from the Uk had helped push down prices but now that is gone so we are the only RHD market in the EU. Could be wrong but I believe it is us and the Dutch who tax new cars the most. To add insult to injury the annual road tax for that car would be €1,200. That combined with high insurance and fuel costs are why high performance petrol cars are not that common in Ireland

Thanks for the video Joe! For the full review it'd be nice if you could include a more direct comparison to the M240i you've reviewed recently and maybe the M2 as well. These cars are fairly close in terms of power and weight, and now that the RS3 seems to have a more neutral handling character it would be great to hear which one you prefer (or whether the RS3 is now an acceptable alternative to the BMWs) as an enthusiast daily driver.

Great review, thank you. Been some really lame efforts appearing this week with people driving UK dealer demos, but this is so much better. I've got a carbon black sportback in tango red on order - added comfort & sound pack, plus the RS Dynamic Pack. Arrives in March/April... replacing my daily (A45s). Think I've made the right choice. Oh, on a typical 3 year PCP, £550 a month would need a deposit nudging £15k. You'd still be looking at over £30k to own it...

I found in my video that the suspension here in the UK is a big improvement over the previous generation and also it is much faster accelerating than the previous model but it is definitely fake sound pumped into the cabin!

It has gotten to a point now in Ireland where it is almost impossible to afford a car that isn't a 1.6 diesel SUV! Any performance based car now is extortionate. I recently priced the BMW 128ti and it was coming in at close to 55k, almost half of that price was due to VRT and other government based taxes
