The race was a hare scramble format and each lap was just over 5 miles. I completed 3 laps in 58 Minutes to win my race class. The bike went into Eco Mode on the last lap and finally died 4 turns from the finish line!

Yes speed up and slow down wastes a lot of power and braking which ultimately require lots of corrective control. Having a lighter bike that doesn't have to slow down as much for cornering with lots of steady power can average out to be more successful.

It's best to pick your lines like you're on a mountain bike and carry your momentum in the corners (saves energy and faster). Stealth factor is the best part. Where do you live? I just put a Boxxer fork and a stiffer shock spring on mine. The stock headset low quality. Cake Creek part numbers for the top and bottom are BAA0080K top and BAA0737K bottom. If your fork has a straight taper steering tube you need the BAA0009S adapter. You can get all three for less than $60. Luna wants $90. One thing you really should do is get a direct mount handlebar clap. Your triple clamp is drilled for it. No more out of sync bars.

Better take a knitting coarse soon because like everything else the mods for the SurRon like the new BAC4000 controller is sending these 110 lbs bikes to an intsant 80 mph at 26 hp! So buy the time you get out of 2nd gear they'll be gone & hard to make up that time to catch them!

15 miles of hard riding - great riding I might add. Super impressive all around! Sur Ron got bought out by Segway - Ninebot. I saw that Sur Ron came out with a bigger moto bike. Only sold in China market so far, but with Ninebot funding, maybe a big market for it here in the 'States. My thought is bigger battery = more range and top speed.

Thanks John! The sand track really ate up the battery but yes a spare battery and quick pit stop would definitely solve that concern. The steep loose hills are tough. I am going to test different gearing on steep climbs like we talked about and will have something to check out soon. Thanks for watching!

​@@JustinCrediblename It would absolutely help. It doesn't get back up to speed very quickly in this type of sand so keeping momentum really helps speed and battery life. Having a 2nd battery and doing a quick swap in the pits mid-race is most definitely the way to go at this point.

Nice effort! shame about the ending. I was thinking of getting one of these to do some training on for GNCC style racing. I race & ride enduro and have to travel at least 1.5hrs to ride but I have so much bush land (woods) near me that I could ride one of these in. Do you think the riding style of these translates back to riding a Motocross/ enduro bike? and I guess the ultimate question is do you think it would be worth the money buying one to use as a training tool?
