When your on dirt, launch in second gear and dump the clutch. I personally like to hold at a constant rpm at the line at like 1/4 throttle then dump the clutch and give it full throttle at the same time

I always launched in 3rd gear on my Banshee when on dirt or grass. Full throttle and dump the clutch basically. It would turn so many damn RPM's that it would never hook enough to flip over and basically just shredded the ground.

Cool video, brings me back when I raced. Sand drags, hill, and desert races. Ate shit at 85 and broke my back and pelvis. I ran a 404 and 420 banshees. A real cheap and sweet setup when drag racing is to racket strap our front shocks down as for as you can, and place a pipe from grab bar and rear carrier to prevent the rear suspension from compressing. You can dump 2 gear at full throttle and lift the wheels all the way down the track, with out flipping over. Worked for me got 15 first place trophies and beat 100 plus hp drag quads with my 70hp banshee. Keep having fun!!
@MichaelSabo4 жыл бұрын
That sounds like a ton of fun 🤘 We actually talked about ratchet strapping the front down; good idea with the rear suspension too. In retrospect, I wish I wasnt so timid on my launches and just dumped it!

Very surprised we didn't see any Quadzilla LT500's there racing. I never owned one, but I'd imagine a 500c 2 stroke quad would be faster then the banshee. Then again the Banshee does have 2 cylinders vs the 1 in the Quadzilla. Anyone know if a Quadzilla is faster or should I just buy another Banshee? If I go Banshee I'd get a Cheetah Cub 421 this time around. Undecided at this point.

That was a good effort for being your first time racing, little tip though, second gear, hold the throttle at a steady quarter, when the light goes green rip it full throttle and ping that clutch the wheels will spin for a bit then they will grab, that's the best way to launch, bike or quad ☺

Mike you should bring your quad's up to Lake George NY in February for the winter carnival. They have ATV & bike race's out on the lake. Plus you can just free ride out there. We also have a couple ovals & a road course once the car racing is done. Also during the carnival they allow us to ride on the streets, must be registered & insured though. Keep up the awesome builds. 🤘

It can’t be from a cold engine i mean racing on cold engine is not that smart but it is a lots of smoke so is does have to make something with oil right? You put too much or does that oil means something else? Nice race man i watch your channel from belgium✌🏻

I already put a new stator put a new top end on it replaced the valves still cuts off at higher rpms. Could it be the cdi box? Not sure what to do next. I just need a lil info from someone. Whats up with more smoke from the left exhaust? Fouled plug maybe because of the wheelie
@abbeygalloway73925 жыл бұрын

Next time lower the rear tires air pressure to 5 to 6 psi. Hit the trottle all the way, sit foward to the gas tank all you can and hold that steering bar real hard. Real nice machine that one. You have real power on that banshee. By the way it sounds I bet you is a 4 mil or maybee 8 mil. Only you need a good pilot. Keep practicing that reaction and your boot.

Yep thats why its weight forward for 2-3 then weight on the back for the rest. And ofc foot ready to smash the brake
@terryedmond44925 жыл бұрын
Hug the tank, lean foward so you don't wheelie and your drive wheels break traction and spin or slip the clutch just a hair on takeoff so you keep traction and don't climb into a wheelie. Drop a tooth off the primary sprocket. Starting out in 2nd may bog you down when you grab traction from burning out.
@jaydensdream7144 жыл бұрын
You picked the right tire. Next time preload your rear spring ALL the way. Far as the front, weld some kind of mount position for the shocks. At least 3.5" to 6.0" drop. I recommend higher rpm launch and be more aggressive with the clutch release. Instead of trying to feather the clutch, trying to throttle it in a specific throttle range, and body adjustments to keep front end down and get traction let's just treat the launch differently. Let's say you hit the favorite riding spot, bikes are warmed up, and someone sais "you lead mike" its follow the leader. Its 10 maybe 12 days since you got to ride. Once your wheels are pointed in the right direction, and thats the launch. That high rpm weight forward turf burner launch leaves you only one thing to worry about and thats weight transfer for traction. Just one thing to get right. The front a-arm action with it unloading for 4"-6" slows down steering( the beginning of weight transfer to back leaves front tires with maybe 30% traction wich means corrections are 3 times slower) this makes it easier to keep it down the middle. But the magic happens when your rear spring, being max preloaded, will completely stop full transfer to rear, long enough for you to ring out 2cnd gear and by then everything is manageable. No doubt the fastest quads had little to none front or rear travel. When you give it a go only one adjustment necessary as long as keeping body position same on every launch, your seating position front to back is only thing you change. I guarantee the first time you find that perfect spot, front to back that is, you will take a full second off your best eta. Blip shifting is twice as fast also I'll explain another time.
