Lots of good music out there in the past 20 years that were heavily inspired by blues and classic rock besides GFV. Bands like The Black Keys, Arcade Fire, Cage the Elephant, Mute Math, The Strokes, The Mars Volta, Arctic Monkeys and I could go on and on. These are bands that loved the sounds of the 50's-70's (and some early 80's influence) and integrated it into their music. GFV has an incredible energy and is getting more young people into guitar music again and older people into new music, so I can't say anything bad about them, but some of the bands I listed I feel make better overall music but that is entirely subjective.

I'm 41 and have been a Led Zeppelin fan since high school. I'm a Zeppelin snob too: I have every album in at least 2 remastered CD versions, and the vinyl remastered versions. I say all this because I absolutely LOVE GVF and hope they go on to greater and bigger things. They've brought the blues back to rock, and when you say "real music" that's what it means. The blues is what makes rock great. When your songs are rooted in the blues you cannot go wrong. Yes, you will sound similar to Led Zeppelin but you're still doing your own thing. Nothing but love for GVF.

@@greatunz67 Robert Plant straight up said that GVF were Zeppelin one. He thinks they sound alike and he likes them so I don't know why people are being so negative about it. I'm a huge Zeppelin fan and liking GVF won't change that. Yes, they do sound like Zeppelin in this song, but they are not running around doing Zeppelin covers and trying to be a tribute band. They are doing their own thing and from what I've been told, they are actually trying not to sound like them. I'm looking forward to hearing more of their songs. I like them.

I love your "thank the music gods" part, because that's how I reacted when I first heard them a year or so ago. It's like Elwood's joke "Y'know so much of the music we here today is pre-programmed electronic disco, we never get a chance to hear master blues-men practicing their craft anymore. By the year 2006, the music known today as the blues will exist only in the classical records department of your local public library." Music in general -- pop more than any other genre -- seems to be living up to that in the lack of real instruments, real talent, real skill, much less actually letting a singer sing without mixing or auto-tuning the piss out of it... and everyone knows a good rock song is built on an attitude of piss and vinegar. Or the part in "Be Cool" -- "J-Lo? that shit's been mixed so much I could sound like Jenny from the Block!" Every time I start to worry about the state of modern music, something comes along to tell me it's going to be alright. O'Keefe Music foundation; Postmodern Jukebox; Camille and Kennerly; Two Cello's; Lindsey Stirling; and now Greta Van Fleet. Good music made by talented people is still out there. ... even if big business is trying to shove "music" built entirely out of marketing statistics down our gullets. Laugh is a lot of the kids are starting to realize just that as their tastes mature. I know a lot of young people who spend more time listening to the likes of Kansas, Rush, and Foreigner than they do talentless tone-deaf auto-tuned hacks like Beyonce or Cardi B.

Okay, these guys are on their way up in a hurry. And sure enough they rocketed to stardom. 3 brothers and a drummer. Receiving enormous praise from Joe Elliott from Def Leppard, Elton John, and Robert Plant. Robert Plant saying that the singer reminded him of someone he knew a very long time ago. I agree with smylyface. These guys are real musicians. I love what Tom Petty said a few years ago on David Letterman. David asked Tom: "What do think of some of today's bands?" Tom replied: "I thought you had to play an instrument to be in a band!" Perfect answer. RIP Tom. I'm sure you would like these young men. I posted another comment on the live version of "Highway Tune".

Search for the video of RP being interviewed. He says "Gretta Van Fleet IS US when we first started". I get chills every time I hear that song. Makes me feel 16 again, I'm 65 now.
