She does a cover like no one else on the planet. She re-writes and/or re-arranges every song she sings to give it that "Angelina Touch". She knows the exact formula of how much she needs to "Angelina-ize" her voice, tone, inflection, emotion, persona and volume with different proportions to perfectly fit every song she sings! She has mastered the art of making her version of a song unique, yet showing complete respect for the Original.

I totally agree with your comments about cover songs, particularly the songs she covers which aren't easy songs. When she does a cover song she always makes it her own & most of the time it is better than the original, IMO. She does this song 4 years later on her album "It's Magic" & it is out of this world beautiful. There is a fan video of her recording this song for the album & it is my favorite of all her videos. She keeps going back & forth between the professional singer during the singing part & the 11 yo girl signalling to Mom & Grandma in the studio with her. I know professional singers who struggled for years with their vibrato and still not managed to control it this well, and here's a 7-year-old who not only perfected it. She's got such control over her vibrato that she can without effort alter both the speed and width of it and she can fall in and out of vibrato on the same note and adding dynamic variation to it as well. On this subject I think Simons words _"I don't think you know how good you are"_ is very close to the truth. For Angelina this isn't anything _speoial,_ it's just the way she likes to sing, so she does - and it comes as natural to her as breathing does to everyone else

Hap, you will soon learn that when Angelina does a cover song, she improves the song. That's her superpower. Angelina fans probably listen to some songs that Angelina ended singing and probably never went back to the original version. I recently heard "Born to Die" sang by Lana del Rey, and my only conclusion was that Angelina's version is way superior. The tempo she has through the entire song is always perfect. Never rushing things. Great reaction.

Thanks for another nice reaction, thanks also for the right evaluation of the covers, they are absolutely not easy to do, especially those that Angelina chooses. They are all of great performers towards whom she absolutely does not disfigure, on the contrary, she often reevaluates the songs she plays, transforming them and giving them a new version that is more emotional and profound. This song is not much seen by the reactors, yet it's almost incredible to see that little girl who quietly and without any tension, goes on in her acapella interpretation, in front of the judges and with the other competitors behind her. I don't know how many adults would be able to hold such a song, all sung without any musical support. It's amazing.😊❤️

I don't think people realize that what they have just seen should be impossible. First to start an acappella song cold, without a clear tone to help get off on the right note, nothing not a solitary key from the piano or a string pluck on the guitar, not even a pitch pipe note. That would be difficult for a seasoned adult singer to pull off, but a 7 year old girl? Not likely. Then , she starts and stays on pitch from first to last note. Think about 7 year old's, how many of those could sing a song in tune even with a piano playing right along with them? Not many. There are key changes and tempo changes that are there briefly then she had to get back to the normals for this song. Everything was stacked against her and yet she nailed everything. AMAZING!!!!! I read below that she angelina-ize's her songs, the one I came up with was I thought about a how she takes songs and makes them hers. I thought of Les Paul and his Les Paul-verizor, I came up with Her Angelina-rator. The song goes in makes it's way through all of the creative lobs Angelina has and then out pops a song that sounds like the original , but have too many new things woven into the song to make it almost a brand new song. She has been doing that for so long and as her musical knowledge increases so will her ability to make songs hers. She is a special talent and will only continue to get better. I have been listening to Angelina for the years since this. As I watch her grow and develop; I have a thought. After 10 more years of getting better, she will be 24 years old! Only 24! I don't know how to imagine what that's going to be like.

You have very good points about cover songs. And Angelina is giving so many cover songs new life. She is not only copying them, as many do, but giving them new life in a different package. I can not imagine any original singers or composers not being amazed by what they hear from Angelina. That makes it absolute right for her doing this at this stage in her career. There is a longer version of this performance: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gonOn3-QedSFjLM For this shorter version (which I think is how it originally aired on TV, because all the early YT posts of this are this version) they decided to remove the entire "bridge" section of the song, for some reason. (The edit happens right before she sings "Pity me, I need you" [which sounds like she's singing "Beat me, I need you"], as they cut to a shot of one of the judges, at 5:22 in this reaction video.) I don't know whether they edited it simply to shorten the runtime of the show or because they thought the "tighter" version made Angelina sound better (or both). But whatever the reason, the fact that this was an edited version actually makes her performance even more impressive. Because when the edit occurs, it's totally seamless. You cannot tell that anything weird just happened. And yet, in the "missing" 50 seconds, as you will hear in the longer video, she sang a _completely_ different sounding melody (being a bridge and all), starting out swinging wildly up and down in pitch, but overall slowly descending from a higher key back down to the original - and there was even a half-spoken line in there near the end. It's *so* different from the other verses, those unfamiliar with Billie Holiday's original might think she's actually _losing_ the melody (which might be why they edited it out). That she could do all of that and return to the original key so precisely is amazing.

thank you for putting this in the comments...your comments on what she does with the song are very to the point....if a judge did not know the original, they might doubt her interpretation a bit, but the voice quality and technique would override that. Also, I think the tv 2 and the producers always try to create story and flow, so the reaction shots of the judges is part of the package. At least they did it tastefully, unlike the AGT here, which has nothing but .....(insert derogatory terms here)
