I really appreciate that Daisuke has no clue how to build an English sentence but has the spirit of what he means to say

I absolutely love it. Guilty Gear music always put me in a good mood. "S-tier nonsense" is a good fit for this style of music.

Strive is one of those games where the soundtrack is absolutely peak. You have to listen to the character themes, they’re all very good and gives insight into each character’s story, goals, feelings, etc.

I appreciate individual character themes so, so much.

Fun fact, the Vocalist for most of the Guilty Gear vocal tracks is Naoki Hashimoto, vocalist of the Japanese metal band "Outrage"

As someone who pays an insane amount of attention to the story and lore of Guilty Gear this song definently has a lot of meaning in the lyrics! Moreover, in Strive, EVERY CHARACTER has their own full length vocal theme with just as high quality as this one, and ALL of them relate super heavily to their respective characters in their lyrics. Ky for some reason tends to always have the best character theme in every game, so I'd recommend his Strive theme, Roar of the Spark. It even has some nods to Holy Orders in it it's amazing. There aren't any Japanese versions btw, all of these English lyrics are written by Daisuke himself which is why they sound pretty funny between the, I don't wanna say broken English but not first language English either, and also the metaphors he uses. In Strive if you hear a male vocalist it's a 99% chance you're hearing Naoki Hashimoto, who is the lead singer of a Japanese band called Outrage, and fun fact, before Naoki ever worked on Guilty Gear, his band was referenced in the lore. In Guilty Gear the Outrage is this crazy weapon Sol built that was too powerful to wield, so it was split into 8 pieces which are wielded by a handful of people in the cast like Sol himself, Ky and Anji. Some of the female characters have a female vocalist which most of the time is Aisha, who I don't know as much about but she's also incredibly talented. There's also Molly Daisy who sang the theme of the latest DLC character Elphelt, cuz they needed a female death metal vocalist for the song, and Jamison Boaz who has done secondary vocals in a couple songs, most notably he's the background vocalist in Millias theme, and I think I heard that he also did the news segment section in Nagoryukis theme.

Hahahaha I love it. Have you played the F-Zero games? One of my favorite things about F-Zero GX is that every character has a theme song. I already feel lost from reading this, but I'm sure the lore is awesome the further you get into it. I have a real tendency to get lost in things like that. Is Guilty Gear still an active focus for them by the way? Or, is it all BlazBlue all the time? I really don't know much in this area.
@gatr28975 ай бұрын
@@RightManWrongPlace Guilty Gear is Arcsys's big money maker rn yeah. Strive is about to finish out its 3rd season of DLC characters in a little over a month and a 4th wave was confirmed in development just last night, so it's going VERY strong, and assuming they succeed in their goal of bringing every playable character back then that implies at least 2 more years of dev support. If anything BlazBlue is the one on the backburner rn for them. Rn it's all Strive, Granblue and UNI. Also if you wanna get lost in the lore of Guilty Gear I'm obligated to vouch for Woolieversus's KZbin series on the topic. It's pretty comprehensive and the presentation is amazing, and it covers everything up to the end of the last game before Strive. If that interests you I'll also say if you have the extra time it's worth it to experience the story modes of Xrd and Strive in full form. The stories of those games take the form of pretty much an anime rendered with 3D graphics, altho with Xrd the arcade modes still lead into the story mode so you'd want the context from Woolies series. I believe the arcade modes are covered at the end of part 4 and beginning of part 6. Xrds story modes are both on Arcsys's KZbin for free which is nice. Guilty Gears story is very bizarre, very "anime nonsense", but at its core it's driven by its relatable characters, and a lot of the different subplots (jellyfish pirates, assassins guild, Zepp, etc) feel like they have their own fully fledged fandoms of people who can't get enough of them specifically. This series has made me tear up a lot lol. GG is Daisuke Ishiwataris baby, last night reminded me of that cuz last night was the final day of the finale of their tournament circuit for Strive and we got to see a lot of Daisuke lol including a live concert where he came in to play the guitar on the final number.

If you decide to continue listening through the themes from Guilty Gear Strive, you're gonna go down a rabbithole. A musical journey through the genres of metal, accompanied by catchy lyrics filled with meaning but usually sung in engrish. Guilty Gear Strive OST is my second favourite music album of all time, it's insanely good. The lyrics are usually quite metaphorical and every song gives a completely different view and story, directly tied and usually sung from the perspective of the character. Some particular standouts are imo: "The Gravity" - That Man's theme, cosmic and heavy with choirs and existential, religious tones. "Drift" - Happy Chaos' theme, a melting tangle of multiple styles that imbues you with bombastic chaos. "Mirror of the World" - Baiken's theme, a long-winded mix of Western and Japanese styles with a resounding, powerfully built up finish. "Armor-Clad Faith" - Potemkin's theme. Best song (t. biased Pot main), a heavy grind through Potemkin's character arc with a chorus I can't help but sing and high meme potential. Pls listen to on channel. Also you don't need the "copyright" text on Guilty Gear videos - ArcSystem doesn't do takedowns on music or gameplay so there is no need to fear.

Thank you so much for these suggestions!!! It definitely sounds like I need to do more from GGS. I love Potemkin--in college we used his name in place of the word "potential" frequently--so maybe I should go there next...

"Holy Orders" isn't exactly in STRIVE, but Ky's new theme "The Roar of the Spark" has a bunch of callbacks and is basically a new take on Holy Orders.

Strive is Daisuke at his most experimental and free. In Strive he unapologetically blends musical genres for all the character themes and he can get really silly and unique with it. So some songs can be hit or miss depending on your tastes but you can't argue that he's not having fun making some really unique blends of metal genres.

Guilty Gear is definitely one of the reaction audience cults, lol. Have fun with all the Guilty Gear song requests. I'll throw my hat into the ring and recommend "DRIFT", which is Happy Chaos' theme (the primary villain of STRIVE). You seem like you know a lot about music and that one is a complete roller coaster.
