I'm so gutted that since getting those frames the UK weather took its winter turn and I had only 3 outings in them, no way near enough to get comfortable on them yet. Then this trip to Brazil came up and I can only travel with 1 pair of skates so stuck with my trusted 4x90s. But as soon as I get back I'm going to focus on them for a while in the spring. Looking forward to that.

Thank you so much!! I felt quite un-fluent and sticky but new equipment is always like that for a couple of months.... you just gotta skate thru it.

I’ve done the complete wizard skating course and I highly recommend it.

Thanks so much. There's a lot in there but having the gazelle, cheetah and lion transitions full down then opens up so many combination flows.

5x80 are one of my favorite frames since the wheel spacing is smaller as in 4x80. Making it feel more unlocked than 4x90. Yes they allow and require you to ride more upright to put the weight on the back wheels when striding forward. Gives you a great sense of stability. What feels weird at first with these are pivots.
@SkatefreshVideos3 ай бұрын
Yes I'm still adjusting and have only managed one outing as then the Halloween skate happened and I think I'll always choose to street skate on the 4x90s. But will get more time on them soon.

@@SkatefreshVideos Actually you were doing great for a first time on 5 wheels. I mean, look at your smooth 360s. :)
@DeezSkates3 ай бұрын
How can a five wheel frame be more maneuverable than a 4x90 frame? The rocker in the five wheel is better. I still personally do not like long frames, but I will take a long frame with a good rocker over a short frame with no rocker or a bad rocker.
@SkatefreshVideos3 ай бұрын
I thought exactly the same thing and resisted the 5s for a few years as a consequence. The touch points of the 3 wheels touching (either front three, or middle 3 or back 3) are shorter than the 4x90 and having 3 wheels to pivot on is why they feel more stable than 4x90s. I'm still adjusting as the longer frame does feel quite different at first. Just takes some time Everyone who rides these frames tells me that very soon the length is going to feel like such an advantage. Can't wait!

@@SkatefreshVideos I think of it as 2.5 wheels, not 3. What I mean by that is, at any given time you have 2 completely immovable wheels, with a 3rd wheel that is kind of touching... but can be rotated with your fingers. And when you're carving with the correct form, only 2 wheels really really be in contact. Hence, 2.5 :)

Hi Asha, do you feel that weight distribution is a bit different in ready position, crossovers and in other simple moves, slightly more back?
@SkatefreshVideos3 ай бұрын
No I don't feel the weight distribution is different. In fact I'm always trying to make my weight distribution (as this is a conscious thing we can change and adjust) the same, ie correct. Just because I go from 4 wheels to 5 wheels doesn't mean that I think we should change our technique especially on simple moves. Having more weight on the front half of your foot/feet is how you gain stability in most moves. A longer frame definitely allows you to put your weight more in your heels without falling over backwards, but I wouldn't recommend that position in most moves. "Hanging out" in your heels is what I am always trying to discourage skaters from doing. It puts a lot of tension in your feet and lower legs. There are moments when weight shifts into the heels for example when doing a backwards to forwards gazelle transition, but it's fleeting and momentary.

Hi Asha - what boot did you choose to go with the Endless frame?
@SkatefreshVideos3 ай бұрын
I didn't want to keep swapping the 2 frames I now have onto the same boot so I found my Powerslide Tau boots which I loved and kept. Now I have my Evos with 4x90 and Taus with 5 wheel Arc. Only my special insole to duplicate so I don't have to remember to swap it into which ever skates I'm on next....

The question on everyone's lips (well, maybe just mine) must be "why?". And what about 6 wheels? Or 7? Or 10? Just trying to figure why my trusty 4x80s should be replaced... 🤔 Thank you for the vid (and the commentary 😉).
@SkatefreshVideos3 ай бұрын
I was a trusty 4x80 for a very, very long time and they served me extremely well, for teaching, street skating, freestyle, slides and all the stuff I like to do. The 3 larger wheels revolution then kicked in mkaing street skating faster (but stopping harder and required more skill to get a good workout....) I've always said that 4x80 gives you the "best exercise" of all the options. I spent a few years on 3x110s loving the speed. More recently when the (only slightly gently) rockered frames came out with the exploration of Wizard skating (a new name for fancy footwork with a 'swishy' new style), did I find a happy medium of 4x90 rockered. This suited my freestyle, backwards, curvy (ex-figure skater) style. For wizard skating I think the rocker definitely helps but the rocker doesn't produce wizard skating automatically (as some people sadly discover). The 5s are an advancement on that concept. I haven't skated in 4x80s for at least 10 years and I'd love to have a go just to see what I can do on them. I'll have to find someone's to borrow as I don't have my old ones still. If someone's technique is good they can skate in any almost any set up. And there's absolutely nothing wrong with sticking to what you like with 4x80s. It served us all very well when there were almost no options other than that (unless you were going into speed skates). People like kit. I try to encourage my students to invest in technique over equipment first.....and then you'll be able to better assess what new/different equipment creates in terms of improvements. otherwise it can all be a bit random.

The fact that you do all of this in the first time and think you need more time to be good, shows me how bad i am.....😂😂😂
@SkatefreshVideos2 ай бұрын
Everything is relative right? I was comparing myself with myself and even though things looked pretty similar I could feel the unfamiliarity (because I'm so used to skating on just one pair of boots with one set-up (4x90mm rockered). Compare yourself with yourself and no-one else (and even then be kind to yourself if you can, every day is different and progress isn;t a diagonal linear line up all the time)....
